Last day of 2009

Happy New Year for tomorrow (do not worry, I will definitely be here tomorrow to say so). As one of the last posts of 2009, I’d like to basically sum up this blog and generally the past year rapidfire vomit style.

I’ve had this blog for barely half a year, but it has been super FUN – regardless of what other people may think. Half the time I am really blogging to myself, but the joyful thing about blogging is that despite having no comments, or the occasional surprise comment, in the end of the day I’ve provided information to people every day, according to whatever their information needs are.

This is my 272th post within the short period I’ve been blogging (well, actually, this would probably be more like my 2000th post since I have kept several blogs in the past 5 years or so) on wordpress, and I hope to continue blogging frequently. I’ll still continue to target the search terms people use to land on my blog. I just usually feel bad if someone searches for something, and end up here and just end up not getting the information they were looking for. So I’ll try to at least have the answer to a search term somewhere embedded in my blog posts.

Speaking of which, even though I am talking to myself 80% of the time, this month’s stats were quite terrifying.

In the month of November I received 803 views, which is quite alright – phenomenal in comparison to what, 100 views in October. This month I got close to 3440 views (and don’t forget, today isn’t over yet). That’s on average more than 100 views per day. \o/ It’s mostly thanks to Myer Stocktake, but either way, I’m happy that at least maybe 80 people didn’t go to their local Myer on Boxing Day, because only 4 stores in NSW were actually open for the public holiday.

Anyway, enough of statistics and mathematical analysis of the blog. That’s not what I’m here for.

In terms of life, I hope that for next year I actually knock some of my resolutions down – and stick with them. I knocked off one important one, and that was getting my Ps. Some may or may not know but I absolutely despise driving. Up until my driving lessons, I just hated being on the roads and being honked at and feeling sad from it. After I attended my lessons however, I never got honked at, and from what my instructor told me, the people who actually honked at me did it for illegal/ wrong reasons. For instance, once I entered a roundabout and I was honked at for going a bit too slow (well what do you expect?), when in fact that car should have given way to me because I entered the roundabout first. It’s idiots like those who disobey road rules which really annoyed me. Idiotic bystanders who tell you not to honk at cyclists – honestly, the guy didn’t know how to ride a bike, I’m a learner, and going downhill with a Mercedes Benz behind me – either keep to a side so I can overtake you, go faster so I don’t need to slow down, or simply get off the road – the guy was riding in a ZIG ZAG in the centre of the road. I couldn’t overtake him either because there is oncoming traffic that may turn in and not see me. Ughhhhhhhh idiots.
Oh and another time, I slowed down to turn left (like any normal person) but there was a pedestrian crossing so I stopped. Car behind me went nuts. WTF?

Thankfully however, I no longer feel queasy at the thought of driving, because I know the rules, and if I make a mistake, fair enough, but some people are just idiots. And they are generally idiots because they look at the L plate and judge you from that. Dude, learners are people too – some learners are very good drivers, but just happen to not want to upgrade their licence. My mum was like “I will sit in the passenger seat when you drive”, but I was like, “if that was okay, then I could stay on my Ls forever – it’s cheaper to renew too. The reason for getting Ps is to actually be able to drive on your own.” So, think about it. If you think you don’t need to drive on your own, and you will always be supervised, you could actually stay on your Ls forever.

But anyway, I got my Ps, and I’m happy.

More life. Just before I started this blog I went through a traumatic stage of everything going wrong. Design for first semester was extremely stressful and there was a trip in communication and turned things extremely sour despite the fact I was going through a hard time. I pretended that I forgot about things, but actually, I really didn’t need that extra bit of stress in my life. I turned single – he was actually the only person I could turn to when I felt down or needed to vent about something. Suddenly losing that really hit me quite hard. I spent an entire week very depressed. I broke down in class. My friends could actually tell that I was totally out of it and my mind was somewhere else. Thankfully I had my friends (and impulsive shopping) giving me their support, and things returned almost normal quite soon (though I admit, I’m still not quite there yet even now). Not long after, one of my family members became very ill.

If I just had to wish for the simple things for 2010, I just hope that I can either (1) cope on my own, well OR (2) manage to find someone who can listen and be there for me (and willingly does so because it’s a soulmate kind of relationship, if you know what I mean), (3) hope everyone in my family is healthy and well, (4) have a good academic year without any major mishaps.

Not really asking for much here. I just don’t want 2010 to be a horrible year like 2009 has been. 2009 really has been a drastic fall from grace, and slowly crawling back up. I was surprised that my marks were better in the second half than in the first half - maybe I was just lucky and learned how to ignore.

But from one of my favourite songs, “Gaining through losing” by Hirai Ken, though I lost a lot of things, I’ve gained plenty in return – I met a bunch of really awesome people, and I know for sure, my life has definitely improved.

Bleh, the tone of this post has turned so heavy!

Nails for New Year’s. I know I was meant to keep the white nail thing, but as I mentioned yesterday, the cleaning… *sigh* anyway, the polish chipped and having your nails and hands damp for about 5 hours means significantly dry skin and weaker nails. It was about time to cut them anyway (it has been a long time since I have been abole to touch anything with my fingertips :P ) and the great thing about nail art is that it takes up a lot of time. So I rewatched HYD for like the 4th time in my life while I did my nails. The series is such an easy watch without any major brain stabbage. <3

Pink gradient nails with Konad stamps that look like fireworks (if you squint hard and use your imagination)! Trust me, looks slightly better IRL because I didn’t touch the contrast of the photo. And look! The background is actually not cluttered for once, thanks to my cleaning day.

I used the same pink pearl base but I gradient’ed it with a coral Revlon polish using a sponge tip applicator and then using more of the base over the coral to produce an “airbrushed” effect. My left hand is much neater (as above) in comparison to my right hand, because I went into the shower and messed up my whole right hand. Had to redo them again but had very little patience. Actually, my right hand has messy gradients but really nice stampage on them OTLL But from a distance, it doesn’t look too bad. These nails for some reason look quite natural and remind me of strawberries :P

I also followed the tip Suzie kindly posted on my previous Konad blog and it worked a charm! Just a thin layer of the top coat (and quickly, as the box says) will seal the stamp. Followed it up with another top coat layer when that dried – and after that, you can pack on as much top coat or glitter you want without the stamp design dissolving. Thanks!

And yes, I am well aware that I own an outdated phone. Well, not too outdated… for certain reasons ;) I won’t state here. But I hate this phone. It’s really crap, until I did the software update thing. Thankfully, I am going to get a new phone in Feb 2010 \o/ But I won’t put my hopes too high. The “free” phones they offer on a contract generally really suck – in fact, I’ve been paying $10 a month handset fee on this crap. Ugh. Anyway, I took a photo holding my phone because I needed to take a photo of the rose mirror accessory. So neat! As you can tell, it’s definitely not the Anna Sui rose (if it was, I’d be facepalming) – but roses are actually my favourite flower anyway, so whatever.

After successfully doing this nail design, I’m tempted to buy a load of templates! Unfortunately that also means buying more of that “Konad special nail polish”. That stuff indeed IS much thicker than usual polish. I tried stamping using other polish, and it works, but it’s too faint since the polish was sheer to begin with. I have 2 polishes that may or may not work (I stamped them successfully and they seemed to work) – (1) Dior nail polish – I own one in copper, and it seems alright. If not, it’s perfect for the metal scratchy look so whatever (2) Missha The Style nail polish – I tried it in the pastel purple I bought a few months ago, and it seems to stamp okay. As you know the colour itself isn’t so vibrant since it’s a pastel, but it’s thick enough to actually stamp through as a solid colour rather than something sheer.

FUN!

-*-*-*-

I know I said I was meant to be going out today, but the weather is really crummy. My body aches from scrubbing (you try staying in a 1.5mx1.5m confined shower cubicle for several hours and scrubbing all 4 vertical surfaces and floor). Maybe I’ll head out on the 2nd. Then I’ll buy my bus fares, too >:3

-*-*-*-

What to expect in 2010?

Bigger and better blogs. More photographs taken by me (including awesome photoshopped stuff), and more nail art definitely for sure, since this nail stamping thing is really fun – but only during the holidays though (and first few weeks of semester) - I don’t have 2 hours each week to dedicate just to nails (it took me 2 hours to do the design above, believe it or not – it was mostly waiting for stuff to dry, and redoing the ones I accidentally touched). More drawings and scannage. More drama bickering. Possibly more celebrity manpron and real life eye candy. YUS!

Oh, and also, I hope to also design more logos and stuff :D Obviously I’m not a graphics design student, but I like designing anything that is designable on a computer. So yay – more logos and all! And if not logos, just stuff in general >:3

So hope you all enjoyed this year – if you didn’t (for good reason), hope that we can look forward to the new year together! Gonna make the time worthwhile, so might as well live it up! (and I’d drink the soju too – but let me at least eat something beforehand, okay? LOL – I actually saved my stomach that day :( )

Seize the moment and make the most of it :)

掃除の日

The Japanese actually have a day they call “掃除の日” which translates to “cleaning day”. As you know, they get down onto their knees and use the zoukin cloths to polish the floors, and just clean everything immaculately. For me, I rarely clean, but when I do, it must be spotless.

I was so bored today I scrubbed the shower, and wiped down my touchscreen computer, laptop, printer, desk, modem, external DVD burner (though I don’t use it any more), 2 bedside tables, and all the crap I have on my “personal” bedside table. What’s on my “personal” bedside table? An alarm clock, two watches, three moisturisers, 3 body lotions, 1 hand cream, 2 toners, and a bunch of other random crap including tea tree oil, tea tree ointment, papaya ointment, dettol cream, 2 eyeshadow cases, about 6 pairs of earrings, a box of tissues, an oil for bruises, and various sample jars.

I worked so hard that my nail polish on one finger has chipped off :( DOH.

But anyway, it was a good idea to just clean everything before New Year – It feels a lot neater. If it weren’t because my hands were feeling super dry and my nails getting weak from being soaked in water too long, I would have wiped down the inside of my windows (which I usually do when I clean the outside, on a hot day). I wiped my mirrors down though.

-*-*-*-

Tomorrow, I am planning on more $2.50 ness. After a day of cleaning, I realised that I am probably the only one who does any decent cleaning at home, and the tools we have are not adequate. I’m going to get some good cleaning cloths, and if required, detergent (yes, they sell detergent) so I can scrub to my heart’s content.

I actually like cleaning, because of the satisfaction I get afterwards that I’ve cleaned something. The only things that stop me from cleaning are obviously the dirtiness, and that I cannot stand dust.

-*-*-*-

I realise tomorrow is New Year’s Eve. No, I do not have plans. Do I intend on having any? Well if anyone happens to be free, I wouldn’t mind lunch or something. Otherwise it’s just more window shopping for me. YEY.

Note, I am quite sceptical of NYE fireworks and “celebrations”, because I’ve been to one, and I didn’t find it particularly enjoyable. Especially since I can see all the fireworks from my window exactly where I am sitting right now, it doesn’t help. Restaurants are fully booked, you wait forever just to get food, and just about anything to do with entertainment will be filled up.

-*-*-*-

I think I’m going to cut my nails short. Like, now.

-*-*-*-

Today, I got a search for the hater post even with the correct hater name. MLIA.

-*-*-*-

For the past 5 days or so, I’ve been getting at least 100 views each day, with one day having more than 300 views, and a few over 200 views. MLIA.

-*-*-*-

Crap, I just realised NYE will be full of idiots being invited over to my apartment block, and plenty of them on balconies screaming and dancing to music and shizz. Ugh. I hate NYE because of this reason. Sure it’s a reason to party, but at least have some respect for your neighbours – who cares if the next day is a public holiday? Some people actually would like to SLEEP.

-*-*-*-

What’s going on? I still haven’t received my January 2010 issue of Marie Claire. Or did I? But anyway, I’m meant to be getting an issue soon?

Chinese drama parents are currently watching: too much exaggeration, too little action going on.

Biotherm sucks. I am never going to turn away from Shiseido ever again. I have started Benefiance within the last 2 days and my mum instantly remarked she could see a definite improvement in my skin. Sucks that it’s pricey (but it’s Estee Lauderish price, not so expensive as Dior or Chanel lines, so it’s not new to me, but it sucks since I was saving money), but it works miracles. Even the pimples will be like “zomg! It’s the Shiseido! *respect*” and back down. Seriously, never buying Biotherm ever again. What to do with my 800 or so membership points? I’m sure I have more than that but Internet is running low so I won’t check now.

New Facebook privacy settings suck big time (or so M would probably write, “suck copious amounts of whale penis”).

I finally had put my comments posted to other walls onto the OFF setting so people won’t see on their feed when I post to my friends. Now, you can see every single post I make to every single person in the feed.

Facebook, have you ever heard of the “friend” but “stalker” friend? As in the friend you’re comfortable enough to having on Facebook, but not comfortable enough for them to stalk your posts and end up inviting themselves to something you organised with another person?

Seriously, the new privacy settings are STUPID. I can turn off my status updates (but only to my friends or whatever – which is a really dodgy option), but all my wall posts are for everyone to see? What kind of stupid logic is that? I thought these settings were meant to IMPROVE privacy, not to make it even more public. I don’t like my wall posts turning up in EVERYONE’S NEWS FEED.

-*-*-*-

Due to said privacy settings, an influx of randoms (with barely 5 friends, no mutual friends) are adding me to their friends.

R commented at the beginning that my Facebook settings were apparently “so private I couldn’t even click her [Misa] name to add her!” – now, I happen to get a bunch of people adding me. What the hell is going on?

The Missha AC Patches are working. Day 1: hardened pimple. I popped it, stupidly. It hurts like mofo. Day 2: painful, red, but smaller. Day 3: Pimple is flattened, area of redness reduced. No pain. Day 4: well, hopefully by tomorrow I end up with just a red spot rather than including the area around it. Like I said, not the most effective way to get rid of a pimple, but it can help speed up the healing process. If I didn’t use the patches, I’d still have a red and sore pimple. Ouch.

-*-*-*-

Coming to think of it I can also try my luck at Capitol tomorrow.

Tomorrow is the last day of 2009! Wish you all safe and well, and not to drink too much – you want to start off 2010 feeling fresh, not hangovered!

Until next blog!

Rapidfire Vomit time!

First things first, NAILS!

So, these were my uber glammed up forest green tips, which may or may not have been coincidentally appropriate for Christmas.

I loved the chunky glitter. Seriously, it’s like having rhinestones without having to worry about them fall off. The only downside is, CHUNKY GLITTER IS AN UTTER BRAT TO REMOVE. It took me about half an hour JUST to remove the glittery tip parts! And this wasn’t using nail polish remover, it was using a nail filer, because the remover wouldn’t really remove it. Or rather, the glitter kind of fluffs up the cotton wad and it becomes a complete mess. I love the effect, but I’m not sure if I love having to remove it.

White nails. With lots of top coat. I love the fact my nails have never looked so fake before, and I love it. And yes, weird shot because white is hard to capture against light surfaces.

Because it took so long to remove that glitter, I opted for something simple. Pure white nails. Surprised that it looks so plastic and acryliccy without having it look like I painted white out onto my nails? The biggest problem with white nail polish is that it tends to look like white out. I did not use white nail polish. I actually just used a $2.50 very link pink pearly base which contained some gold highlights in it. The aim of the game is to buy a sheer (as in, easy to apply, but requiring several coats kind of polish) nail polish that isn’t white – but very light pink. Because of the skin colour (I can reassure you that photo isn’t my skin colour – I hate taking photos at night time -_-), a light pink will easily look white in comparison. Very proud I achieved the white nail look without having to feel like I have white out on my nails. \o/

I opted for something simple also because my nails are ridiculously long and I really want to cut them. But because I took so much effort removing the previous design (which I could have kept for longer if I had realised I was  going to cut my nails), I wanted to just paint them or do something – but nothing too elaborate. I also like the clean white look, just in time for new year – a bit like starting afresh :D

So, today (well rather, last night) I decided to go Campsie for exploring and there are a lot of goodies there for sale. I won’t write down the ones I told C about because we need to keep some secrets about the place you know! But let’s just say, it’s a HEAVEN for makeup, beauty (including nails!) and clothes. LOTS OF CLOTHES.

The day started off with me meeting Ian – thanks for having me over on your home turf! She kindly took me around Campsie and we went into just about every single $2 store that exists – and let me tell you, some of the stuff in those places are really cheap- like, you can get a set of mini-drawers – 4 drawers for just $14 or something ridiculous like that. In the city they will sell it for at least $30! I saw some nice furniture (this glass tiered table – like one of those things you put when you enter the house to drop your keys at) and it was $40! There’s seriously so much to look at and the prices are really not too bad.

Anyway, we went into one $2 store, which had a LOT of good nail stuff (tis a secret between me, Ian and C currently – huhuhuhu), and then we went into a store with makeup.

This one I can let you all know on. The store is named Lovely House and they had 50% off Etude House products. I just went for it because it’s so ridiculously cheap. I got an Etude House eyebrow pencil for 5 bucks. Plus it comes with a metal cap, which makes it doubly sexy.

I insist you MUST watch this clip. You would have never felt so intrigued and jealous at the same time. I love PSH though, damn they are hot together.

Above is the commercial featuring Park Shin Hye and Jang Geun Suk, which is for Etude House’s VIP GIRL line of lipsticks.

I loveeeee the commercial and I am also very much in love with the makeup they had in YB, so I did some searching on ebay and found them going for about $8 each. I was going to order a PK007 once the exchange rate improved, since it looked the nicest pink out of all the colours.

Today I found them on sale, and they were $9 after a half price discount. RIDICULOUS OR WHAT? I WAS SO GIDDY AND OVER THE MOON. I LOVE THE PACKAGING.

Anyway, I ended up getting a PK003, because the PK007 was very pink – like hot pink. I actually have hot pink from an Estee Lauder gifttime. I’m really after that milky pink. PK003 is very sheer and similar to PK002, but Ian commented that PK003 looked less flatter than PK002. They all have a bit of shimmer in them, and the packaging is just too cute. The formula is also quite wet, meaning it won’t be drying on the lips. It’s like a solid gloss. YAY! I also managed to buy the last PK003 they had in stock :D So that means it’s a popular colour! I really like the peach colour that PSH is wearing in the commercial though – but whatever :D

This is ridiculous – they even gave me an Etude House plastic bag – I’m really impressed!

Look how freaking cute that lipstick is on the far right. That’s toooooooo damn cute to say NO to! And besides I got to swatch and play around with the testers – if I really did order PK007 I’d be annoyed that I ordered a dupe >_<

For $14 I got a lipstick and an eyebrow pencil by Etude House. SAY WHAT??!?!?! She even gave me sunscreen samples and some emulsion and toner from something. Either way, WOW and thanks! I wish they had more Etude House stuff though. I was considering their nail polishes, but the only price I saw was $3 for those that used to be testers. They sell them for about $7 in the city, but I think I’d better stop with the nail colours. I have too much nail polish and I do too little nail art.

We kept looking through stores and though I didn’t buy anything, there were just ridiculously cheap jackets at $10 (winter ones at that) and I was gutted this awesome green jacket looked stupid on me :( I loved the colour (reminded me of T.O.P’s jacket in IRIS lololol) but the buttons were just weird. Probably because I wasn’t wearing something good to begin with. In other words, I don’t think it was the colour’s fault – it was the design’s fault? Too many buttons on it. It was only $10 but I didn’t get it. Sad.

It was a lot more turquoise than T.O.P’s jacket as above (sexy colour nonetheless), but still, that scene in IRIS made me a happy girl. Episode 7 guys, episode 7!

Note he doesn’t have stupid buttons or a “double breasted” look to the jacket? I love his hair in this scene. Probably the only scene where his hair isn’t drenched with petroleum jelly and slicked back :P HAWT.

Anyway, Korean food is really nice (LOTS of side dishes) and we ventured into more $2 stores.

I got a tissue box cover for $4 at a random store – it had flowers and it had lace on it! I’ll take a photo… one day. I really want to turn my room uber girly on one side and really sleek the other (for those who don’t know, my workstation is very hardcore – black desktop, black laptop, black multifunctional printer – it’s serious stuff). I also found a shelf using suction cups for my mum so she doesn’t have to bend down to grab soap in the laundry. $3.30!~ they sell the same thing at Peter’s of Kensington for $12 on sale >_< So it was reallllly cheap. And I found one of those random sales like the one I came across in Parra selling the Sham-ezee cloths. Only this time they happened to be selling my toothpaste so I bought 2. It was really random, but it was fortunate,  because nobody buys toothpaste for me. I’m running out (even my mum knows) yet she didn’t buy any for me. Luckily I did today or else I’d run out D: Meanie U_U But it’s all good because it is cheaper than a supermarket. Not by much, but good enough and for the convenience.

At Campsie they also sell loads of bbcream, and just lots of stuff! The Korean boutiques are a bit pricey though, as usual. Overall the clothes are really affordable and you can find something nice if you search for it. I think the Chinatown boutiques are probably better quality than the common stuff in Campsie, but then the stuff in Chinatown is like WHOA massive markup $50 for a cute looking top. But then again, if you like unique pieces, maybe you are better off spending $50 – up to the person. But there are some REALLY cool things in Campsie – I just can’t pull them off.

I also got a mobile chain accessory for $4 – it’s an Anna Sui black rose looking mirror! Of course not real Anna Sui, but it’s a real functioning mirror. Beats having to spend $27 on a mirror and extra money on a phone accessory. I kill two items I need with the one buy!

I might get the mirror though - one day. The brush stand is very tempting still – I just want it to put my pens in it though lololol.

Anyway, Campsie is a lot less harsher on the pocket than Parramatta is :D It was really fun though! Definitely will go back some time :D

The funny thing about Campsie is that I hear wayyy too many people speaking in Cantonese or Mandarin (they speak in Mando to me o_o) – do I look mando? D: In any case, I’m not. I’m starting to understand Korean just sitting at restaurants now. I watch too much Korean drama. But I still don’t know how to put the sentences together >_> Just bits and pieces. Rawr. (But hey, if I continue to keep watching at this rate, maybe another 10 series later I can actually say a few sentences? :D )

I got home and my parcel arrived!

Believe it or not, this small parcel was plastered with stamps. It is also worth over $100AUD. *gulps*What’s inside? It’s a secret! I’m not telling anyone :P

Seriously, watch the commercial with PSH and JGS in it. HAWT :D

Missha AC trouble patch

Have you seen photos of ulzzangs wearing these circular brown stickers on their faces? Well those are pimple patches – stickers containing tea tree oil and triclosan for an anti-bacterial effect. They claim to get rid of pimples or sooth pimples, and they are most likely made by Missha. Well, the only ones I’ve ever come across are by Missha, anyway.

You get 8 stickers per packet. If memory serves me correctly, it costs $1.90AUD? or $2.10 – something like that. You find it at the counter where you pay.

How well do these things work?

I’ve read in some places (just a quick google) that these things were “amazing” and cleared pimples the next day.

From personal experience, these may or may not work depending on the pimple.

If it’s a small pimple, the ingredients of the patch are adequate to get rid of the pimple (especially if it’s a popped one!). Once I stuck one of these on a pimple on my nose – not only did it not go away, it hardened the pimple ;=;

Anyway, I decided to review these because last night I couldn’t sleep because I was paranoid of sleeping on a pimple and having it hurt like crazy. I stuck one on a popped pimple and a pimple that’s growing. When I removed these in the morning, I noticed the bump of the popped pimple was remarkably flatter, and the redness of the pimple had gotten smaller by about 30% (note: still red, but the red area reduced). The growing pimple bump is about the same but it feels a little harder (like I can pop it soon), and it hurts less when I touch it (I know I’m not supposed  to, but letting y’all know).

Downsides?

These patches aren’t really skin coloured. They are darker than normal skin colour. Ulzzangs wear them out and they seem fine, but if you ask me, this is a night time product. Problem with night time? You’re alseep and your skin’s natural oils come out, without you awake to blot it away. These patches also slip, because they don’t have glue on them – they are slightly sticky from the damp solution of whatever it is in these patches. I’ve tried many times sleeping with these things and waking up to find them on my blanket or more ridiculously, once it ended up on my leg.

Last night I used some micropore tape and stuck it over these patches so they wouldn’t move. Micropore tape is probably better than a bandaid or sticky tape, because firstly it’s cheap, it’s sticky, and it allows your skin to breathe. It’s tape people (including doctors) would recommend you use to stick over an open wound, so it’s good stuff.

Comes in 2 colours – white and skin colour. This is the 25mm tape – it is also available in I think 15mm or something like that. Costs maybe $3AUD from your chemist for a roll like this.

So there you have it – problem solved and the patch doesn’t come off.

Currently I am using it on a patch of red (not a pimple, but red patch) and I can see that the redness has already decreased significantly. So it’s not just for pimples!

Also last but not least – do not reuse the patches. It may or may not be pricey to you (it used to be for me, because these critters fall off and I am tempted to just reuse them), but please just treat them as disposables. You don’t want bacteria to transfer anywhere or anything like that. Each patch should be removed about 5-7 hours, or applied before you sleep and removed after you wake up.

These are probably not the most effective way to get rid of a pimple, but they really do get rid of redness. If you prefer something like this, go for it. It’s quite gentle, but it does work to some degree.

PS: AC stands for anti-comedogenic, meaning these patches will not cause pimples.

What does your name mean?

I was looking through an old issue of CanCam magazine that I downloaded and stumbled across a double page of names.

Apparently, from your name, you can find out who you get along better with (guys or girls) and whether or not those people will be older than you or not.

Apparently I get along with males of the same age as me, which is pretty true.

It says my personality is strong (well not really but I can’t figure out how to translate it into English without myself sounding funny). Well if I’m correct, it’s saying that people with the name “Misa” have quiet eyes, but a face of determination. Sort of like that.

Pretty interesting.

MC HotDog – 谢谢YAHOO lyrics

Hi all – I’ve been getting a LOT of searches for the lyrics of this song. I’m not sure if it’s because it’s hard to find the lyrics, or if it’s that people don’t know where to get them from – but it’s all good, let me make it easier for everyone :D .Let me introduce you all to an excellent website for Chinese lyrics: www.mp3.sogou.com It’s in Chinese, so you will need to be able to read just a little bit of Chinese – or, you just need to interpret the icons. What you do is enter the name of the artist or song name (preferably both) and hit enter like you’d do with google. With the search results, if you believe it is the correct one (there will be columns with album name and other stuff), click the note pad looking icon. Above it, it will say “lyrics” in Chinese, “歌词”.There you have it!

It’s a HUGE database because it’s a Chinese database, and you know Chinese databases are REALLY quick at expanding and updating information. You can find just about ANY lyric on Sogou. The only problem is, if it’s still not up yet, you will have to wait until it is – or,  the other problem being the lyrics are incorrect.

Also the best thing about Sogou is that it’s not for lyrics only. You can download almost any mp3 imaginable if it turns up as a positive search result. Instead of clicking under the lyrics column, you click the “download” icon, which should look like something with an arrow on it. A window will pop up, and you right click the bottom icon with the arrow on it and SAVE TARGET AS. If you’re not sure which icon it is, you can click the ones at the bottom. I don’t recommend the ones at the top because you need to download Sogou’s downloading software (it’s “fast” speed download). The one at the bottom is a direct download. There should also be a close window button – so just don’t get them mixed up! I’m sure you’ll be able to find your way easily – but remember, when you click the download icon, a small green window should pop up! ^^

This is NOT limited to Chinese songs only – it’s all sorts of songs including English, and even probably Korean and Japanese if you manage to get the search result. Sogou is huge, so do you have a song you’ve been looking for ages? Try Sogou, because you might get it in one search!

NOTE: THESE ARE LYRICS ONLY. I WON’T DO TRANSLATIONS UNLESS I GET A MASS OF COMMENTS ASKING ME TO. WANT TRANSLATIONS? LEAVE ME A COMMENT and be sure to post it with a VALID email address so I can notify you if I ever translate the lyrics. I have a 14 day comment expiry period for all posts, so if you can’t comment, you can post the comment on a newer entry of mine – feel free.

PS: A lot of the words in the lyrics are clearly wrong in comparison to the video clip. As I mentioned in my other post http://kmisa.wordpress.com/2009/10/25/mc-hotdog-谢谢yahoo/, there is quite a degree of censorship. Not only that, they wrote “TOOK” instead of “tuo”, though they actually mean the same thing (took, and “remove” – same, just different languages)

Hope you enjoy the lyrics – remember the tip to go get Chinese lyrics from Sogou! And yes, it is a trusted website!

{I just noticed, but the lyrics are incomplete. It’s the best I can do, sorry! Sogou appears to only have these lyrics available, which is about maybe, 80% of the song? I realised the otaku part and making money (probably from something similar like enjo kosai) is missing. A few words are missing, too. Must be censorship :\}

Movie: Kurosagi

Today I also managed to watch Kurosagi, the movie.

While I watched the series, I felt that there was a really special atmosphere to the whole series. I quite enjoyed the episodes, but I felt that the atmosphere changed to a very heavy one in the last two episodes and everything was rushed. P said he was hoping for more character development in the series, but there was little – only a swindle per episode. I told him that perhaps the answer to the lack of character development could be answered in the movie. Guess I was kind of wrong?

The general plot of the movie is like an hour and 20 minute long episode of your average Kurosagi drama. No kidding, it was a movie about a very detailed swindle. The cast is almost identical to the drama, but there was very little Horikita Maki and almost no annoying Yukari. If you were hoping for character development or resolution, I can tell you, there is none.

Like with all plots, there is always an underlying theme. In the various Kurosagi episodes there’d be an underlying metaphor for each swindle case. In the movie, they used Shakespeare in particular, and borrowed on Caesar’s death/ betrayal, as well as Othello (though in the movie, Othello is actually a board game similar to Go). Basically, the theme was, Caesar was killed because he trusted his friends, and died because of his trust. This is the same with swindling – the person who trusts and lets down their guard, will be the loser. This ties in nicely with the board game simultaneously, so you get the play between a board game and the swindle cases.

I felt some parts were too long, some parts weren’t believable (dude, the guy Aikawa Sho plays would NOT have been played around so easily), and more so, the movie lacked any development of plot in regards to the original Kurosagi story – it’s yet another “to be continued” thing.

In all honesty, if you enjoyed the Kurosagi episodes and wanted to see him at it again, this movie will be something you will enjoy. If you were trying to dig deeper like my friend, P did, then you will be in for some disappointment, as there really isn’t much difference between the movie and another episode. You can call the movie a “special’ episode, perhaps, if that seems more appropriate.

Overall, it’s still an appropriate watch, but note that it’s a movie so the atmosphere is quite different to a drama. The pace is much slower, and it has the movie “quiet” thing in the background, if you know what I mean. Anyway, maido ari!

Movie: Sophie’s Revenge (2009)

CAST: Zhang Zi Yi, Fan Bing Bing, Peter Ho, So Ji-Sub

I usually don’t watch Chinese movies, but I was very tempted because So Ji-Sub was in it (topless!) – but he had a very small  role.

Plot synopsis: Sophie is dumped by her excellent doctor fiancee, Jeff, after he meets Anna, a top movie star due to appendicitis. (I think this is very clearly making a reference to Cain and Abel lol). The whole movie then revolves on how she tries to break them up with a handsome talented photographer by the name of Gordon. The whole process is then turned into an illustration book, and she hopes to inspire everyone with her book -

Overall it was quite an interesting watch. I haven’t seen Ruby Lin act in a while and she is vibrant as usual. So Ji-Sub’s part was a little too small (and superficial) but still the acting was good, SJS style. The movie has been compared to the “First Wives Club” and I wholeheartedly agree. It’s very similar.

I’m going to keep this review relatively short, but it’s a good watch - I was quite surprised. The fashion and everything is quite well done. I’m not a fan of Zhang Zi Yi, but after watching this, I think she’s alright. She’s quite good on the screen – probably one of the best movies I’ve seen with her in it (I’ve only seen “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”, but I didn’t like it – probably because the story was too weird and far away from the actual plot and condensed into a movie length story, which made things a bit out of proportion) – but she has quite nice skills.

But yes, it’s a romantic comedy. Fun :D (and yes I watched it for SJS – it still sounds like his voice is dubbed though, but his mouth is moving correctly.)

*Shy*

True story.

About a month ago, I was talking to P about drama. So we were basically browsing on mysoju and reading various plot synopses of Korean and Japanese drama. If we saw a drama with a funny name, we’d just click on it and quickly skim through the plot synopsis (yes, we did this for the entire list).

Anyway, he is a MiSa fan (not a fan of me, but Mianhada Saranghada). We clicked on something random, and he casually said,  “oh hey, it’s the Sorry but I love you guy. He’s back from military service! I didn’t know that. But I like that guy.”

Then, I said, ”my friend is currently watching Cain and Abel” – so I clicked it.

Instantly, he was like “oh hey it’s that guy again! I want to watch this now”.

Jokingly, I said “are you sure you two aren’t related or something?!” since it was about 2 clicks in a row that we stumbled across the same actor. He just laughed and we continued looking at other plot synopses.

Epic phail. He wasn’t the one who was related, instead, I was, since we have the same surname.

*Shy*

Yeah. Whoooooooops.

PS: I think I know why I thought Shin Hyun Joon was the MiSa guy – it’s because probably on mysoju they listed the cast in a different order and possibly wrote Shin Hyun Joon first for C&A, so I got confused. Or else I would have seen So Ji Sub instead and would be like “oh. Same surname.”
