I know I said Etude House review today, but I’m postponing that for tomorrow – check back later przzz <3. For now, it’s Gmarket Party!
I ordered I think before the 10th November 2010 due to the high Australian dollar. Most items arrived at the warehouse the next day, and it would have been sent on the weekend, but one seller only sent out half of my order. When Monday came around, that seller cancelled the other half (THANKS FOR WASTING MY TIME) and then Gmarket took their time sending out the package. It was sent out on the 16th November and then EMS decided to take their time. Instead of my parcel coming in on the Friday or Saturday, I received it finally on the 22 November 2010 which is a Monday. Frankly speaking, I wasn’t too happy because any excitement pretty much washed out by the time my parcel came.
To make things slightly worse the EMS guy is a liar (I dub thee liar#2 since this is the second time it has happened to me). He wrote that he left a card for us but didn’t. He didn’t even show up. I had to use my own paper and ink to print out a screenshot of the tracking page. I hate to sound grouchy, but that’s just not good enough. If I pay for EMS which is a significantly expensive form of shipping, I expect things to run smoothly. Whoever it was – if you can’t even be bothered to call the number on the box, or can’t find your way to where I live, just quit your job and let someone else do it. There’s no point delivering items if you’re not going to deliver.
Speaking of EMS I was refunded about $5.50 because it was overestimated by about 1.5kg (which means that it’s REALLY CHEAP to ship after you get to about 7kg). My shipping costs were 50,000Won but the parcel was marked at 67,700Won, so I saved some money there! I also used all the Super coupons on my coupon box and wasted all 4 of my remaining Gstamps just to get a discount of 1,000Won. Gmarket really needs to fix their Item received button. It’s pretty ridiculous that I’m buying so many items and not getting my stamps for it.
Enough grouchiness (actually, more to come) and here’s what came in:

These all came in a Size 5 box. Previously all my boxes were size 4 so this was a bit larger. As you can see, there are a lot of stranded packages in the box. I don’t particularly mind since it means it’s lighter, but the shoe box was floating on the top *shifty eye* that’s not the smartest way to pack a box and it looked like a lot of stuff were just chucked in. Then again the package probably just got shaken a lot. Whatevers.
The order is as follows:
- 1 – Jacket
- 2 – Harlem pants/ pants for at home
- 3 – Oxfords
- 4 – Pyjamas
- 5 – Jackets/ Blazers x 2
- 6 – Leggings
- 7 – Etude House
Feel free to skip to the appropriate section as you wish. OR JUST READ EVERYTHING >:3
Box 1: Jacket

Beautiful box. A bit meaningless since it’ll be thrown out, but I appreciate the thought. The jacket comes with a coat hanger and was pretty much flawless without wrinkles or anything of the sort. This jacket was about 24,000Won and is a size 77 (it’s for my mum). Most jackets on Gmarket are size 55 or 66, so finding a decent looking jacket at size 77 was actually pretty challenging. The most disappointing thing about this jacket was how thin it was. It was a mix of polyester and something else and is really just a summer/spring jacket – it feels a bit like that thick waterproof jacket material but just not thick. My mum still found the arms tight (it’s not the shoulders but the width of the sleeves) but this would be a good jacket for her if she needs to head out. The inner lining was also really thin and quite craptastic. I’m just hoping that it won’t rip. I feel kinda bad because I really expected something awesome and wanted to surprise my mum :\
It comes complete with tags and it’s made in China. I can’t say I was too impressed with it. It looks alright worn, but it was just… thin. I applied a coupon to this jacket so it ended up being slightly cheaper, but I wouldn’t buy from them again, considering I’ve gotten better value before. It was somewhat disappointing, since I checked out the stock photos and made sure the quality was good. Don’t get me wrong – quality IS good. But it’s thin… for its price I would have appreciated the same thickness of my navy jacket from my Gmarket Haulage 7. I guess most of the money went towards the packaging lol. Oh well.
Package 02: Harlem Pants

I think Helvetica communicates just what I feel towards these pants.
From the “group”‘ photo of my packages, you can tell that the pants completely clumped up into a ball inside the plastic packaging and it looked bad in plastic. It looks slightly better out of the packaging, but the colour is awful. I’m pretty sure the stock photo was NOT this awful colour. My photograph shows it as a khaki grey, but in real life it’s a gross brown grey, which is nowhere near the khaki I ordered. The cotton is also that soft cotton that is demonically attractive to lint. There’s nothing to tighten or loosen the waist part of the pants so if they’re loose, they’ll fall. In fact, I’m too scared to even try these on because they’re horrific. I bought these pants because a soompier reviewed some of their recent Gmarket purchases and recommended this seller, but this purchase was so shocking I wish I used my money on something else more worthwhile.
Again, it’s not bad (fabric isn’t bad to the point I’d want to break a plate, all stitching was neat and perfect), and I bought it for the purpose of being able to have some “wear at home” pants, but seriously, as a seller, who would really sell these? I don’t know, maybe they’re not that bad considering I haven’t tried them on, but they’re thin. If I wear these at home I sincerely hope I don’t have to see anyone or walk out of the house.
Yes, these pants were cheap – but so what? My standards aren’t really all that high but they’re not that low either. Whilst these aren’t the worst, they’re towards the “worse than average” category. I just tried them on and while they fit, they’re terrible. There’s something wrong with the length or something because they make me look so short, and the top part is so baggy it makes me look like I have chunky thighs, when I don’t. ARGH. THIS IS A FASHION DISASTER. If it was less baggy at the top it would have been wearable! I might have to take it in myself.
So to any soompiers or Gmarketers or anyone – STAY AWAY FROM THIS SELLER AND THEIR CRAPPY PANTS. In fact stay away from harlems on Gmarket because I haven’t found a single seller who sells good ones. This seller sent these horrible pants, cancelled the other ones (which I was willing to PAY MORE FOR) and made my entire order delayed. I’m not impressed. I can’t believe I had to wait an extra week because of this inconsiderate seller. Never buying from them ever again.
Box 03: Oxfords

Onto more happier things on the other side of the rainbow, these oxfords are lovely. It’s the second time buying from this seller and they haven’t failed to impress me. These shoes were only about 13,000Won and they are lovely (I don’t care if I’ve used that adjective already, lovely is lovely). Leather (even if it’s PU) is soft, they fit well, and the seller included a pair of shoe inserts. I’m not sure if you can see it or not, but these shoes came with 2 rods that kept the stuffing in place. I’ll be reusing those to expand my tight shoes heheh >_> But yeah, these are comfortable. The heel bit on the insole is slightly raised/ cushioned and I’m going to love wearing these shoes.
Recommended, and will definitely continute to religiously purchase from this seller.
They’re made in China, and the brand is Bonnie.
Package 04: Pyjamas

Same seller as the other seller from Haulage 7. These are both long sleeved one pieces. I bought them because instead of the $10 they were last time, they’re about $7 so I felt they were quite cheap. Not bad, except the one with the white hearts wasn’t so satisfactory: the white hearts are actually printed hearts, and when we took it out of the packaging, they stuck to each other, so some hearts are missing patches of white. Not very nice. Will think twice before I order from this seller. As a repeat customer, I didn’t get any freebies. Hmm. That’s some food for thought.
Package 05: Jackets/ Blazers

Both from the same seller and the same seller as my navy jacket from Haulage 7.
I bought two jackets this time because they were cheap – for some reason I imagined them to be cheaper – maybe I applied a coupon or something. I can’t remember. My order says that they were $16 each but I remember them being $12 each. Hmmm.
I wanted casual jackets, but I’m a bit disappointed. Again, they’re both so thin – you can tell because they’re wrinkled. The pink jacket wasn’t actually pink – it’s more of a very pastel mauve colour. That jacket looks quite good when worn, so I’m not too fussed. It actually gets my thumbs up of approval for wearing to an interview. The grey jacket seems to look nicer than the pink one, but it’s actually not as preferable because I don’t like the cut of the collar. When I wear it I feel like I need to wear a fedora with it lol – you know, that kind of feeling? They’re both not bad, but they’re both just so thin. What is this with thin jackets nowadays?? It’s winter in Korea at the moment!
Pockets are not real pockets – they’re just flaps for the grey one.
I also don’t remember if the stock showed these two jackets with just ONE button to fix/ close the jacket. The buttons weren’t as nice as the navy jacket either. I guess you get what you pay for, but considering I’ve bought an awesome jacket for 17,000 won with beautiful buttons and all before, I’m a bit hesitant about these two jackets. Might not buy from this seller again (that and if I keep buying jackets at this rate I can probably challenge T.O.P to a wardrobe contest – seriously, I need to stop buying blazers). Both pieces were made in Korea though – I guess the money went into the buttons on the ends of the sleeves. Either way, I will definitely wear them. I’m just not sure if I would recommend them to people to buy.
Package 06: Leggings

These were about 10,000Won or so. Quality looks okay so far (and believe me, I can tell through packaging) so it should be okay. I’m not sure if you can see it, but these are zipper leggings so they’re not just your average leggings. Should jazz up the outfit slightly – and if that’s all good, I’m happy.
Bubble wrap of mayhem 07: Etude House
I’m saving the best bit for last. I LOVE ETUDE HOUSE.

The items marked with hearts are…. FREEBIES. The freebies included a box of mysterious things (will elaborate later), a box of cosmetic cotton (THE BOX WAS CRUSHED T_T) and… a 150ml of moistfull collagen emulsion.
From the top row left to right, I bought: Happy Teatime cleanser (milk tea) 120ml (really cheap like about $3), Happy Teatime cleanser (green tea) 120ml (also around $3), collagen moistfull facial freshener 150ml, collagen moistfull emulsion 150ml, collagen moistfull first essence 100ml, collagen moistfull cream 50ml, moistfull peeling gel 120ml (about $7), volume bling Duo mascara, liner and top coat in one set ($12), MISSING U rose handcream ($4.50 – extra on top of the mascara), Proof 10 eye primer ($7), Oh m’Eye Line eye liner in brown ($4), Proof 10 Jewelry Pencil in Metallic Silver ($6 ish), [freebie], collagen moistfull eye cream 25ml ($14).
As you can tell, I bought the Proof 10 in silver again as a backup since I loved it so much the first time around. I also ordered the Oh m’Eye Line liner again as a backup, but out of pure luck I ordered the BROWN one instead of the black one (that’s why the bottle isn’t black, but brown lol – cute). I don’t mind though! That’s even better. I’ve been meaning to get a brown eyeliner.
The reason why I ordered so much skin care was because Etude House was having a November special – the facial freshener and emulsion (150ml ea) came in a set and only cost about $25 (25, 000 Won). In terms of skin care, that’s really as cheap as it gets, and I have tried the samples – the product is amazing. I will review it of course – when the time comes round. The first essence (100ml) and the cream (50ml) also came in a set and it was also $25, and that’s why I have 2 sets. Usually the cream by itself is $20, so it was REALLY REALLY CHEAP. I’m pretty sure I saved a lot of money from this promo. Also with the emulsion set, there was a sample/ freebie with it which I’ll go into detail later.
The moistfull peeling gel is actually supposed to be similar to the Missha detoxifying peeling gel, but it’s so much cheaper I thought I’d give it a shot. I could only find the Happy Teatimes as the only Etude cleansers o_O It appears that there’s no cleanser for the collagen moistfull line… or any of them. Weird. Mum needed eyecream – and so that’s how this haul ended up being. In total I spent a little over $100 on Etude House alone for this haul.

Inside the beautiful gift box there were the following samples: a set in a ziplock bag containing an eye/lip makeup remover, sunscreen with 50SPF, a slimming scrub, and a yoghurt cleanser/ scrub for the face. Behind that in the blue box is a set from the AQUA CURE line (this was the freebie for the emulsion set) containing toner, emulsion, gel and a bamboo facial mist (which actually sounds REALLY AWESOME). Next to the blue box is another sample of the collagen moistfull range (this time I really did give it to my mum), 2 pieces of moistfull sheet masks [these moistfull samples were freebies with the mascara duo], a package of a teddy bear thing which is actually a hot pack (will keep it for winter then), a sample of the collagen moistfull massager (this is also included with the cream but I don’t know what the heck it is – also a freebie with the mascara) and the Proof 10 eyeliner was not a freebie. It’s Proof 10 Jewelry Pencil in metallic Aqua and I paid for it, $6ish to be exact.
The ziplock bag is actually the gift you get for spending over like 50,000 Won, but I spent way more than that. I reckon they should have given me other freebies, because technically every item you buy from Etude House comes with a freebie. In this case, it means I am missing 7 freebies. What can I do or say? They might have changed the freebies because of the November gifts and specials. Lol, I already bought the sets and they must have been feeling like I was reaping them fast of their sale
They DID give me an extra emulsion so yeah. I must say I’m pretty satisfied – guess that’s more useful than a sample.
The box also fits all my emulsion boxes perfectly. It’s definitely a gift box of some sorts – love it! Will be using it to store my emulsions while I try to finish my Shiseido stuff in the meantime.

Taken out of the boxes this is what the collagen moistfull set looks like. Tis pretty. That’s all I can say. They’re all glass bottles by the way – so beware when shipping. THEY ARE HEAVY.

The handcream was a lot smaller than I thought it would be so I kind of regret buying it. I also don’t know what animal that is lol – oh wait – according to my dictionary it’s meant to be a dolphin ^^;; Haha. [EDIT: DOH it actually says dolphin on the side of the box where the English is... maybe I need to read the boxes first >_>] It’s cute though! I’ll put it on my desk to remind myself to moisturise my hands since they’ve seriously gotten quite rough from all that model making. Apparently it has shea butter and herbs and olives in it to moisturise, heal and soothe hands (yes I’m copying this off the box
). I really wanted the Panda one but all they had left was the dolphin one – but it’s okay - I like dolphins!
The mascara has two ends – one I think is a liner (it’s a silver glitter liner) and the other with the brush. I haven’t opened it. The smaller thing cames with a mobile chain and it’s actually the top coat for mascara.
The Proof 10 primer is so cute! Same packaging as the eyeliner and the box shows that it helps lock colour on the eyes. And last but not least, the metallic aqua Proof10 eyeliner/ Jewelry Pencil. It just comes in a special 2NE1 outer case LOL. It looks exactly the same as the metallic silver pencil, being pink.
In conclusion
I must say I wasn’t so elated to see my Etude House products this time around because I got used to the packaging and knew what to sort of expect. Besides, most of my money went towards skin care and stuff so it was slightly boring. But even so, the skin care boxes were quite surprising – usually Korean skin care doesn’t really come in boxes. Not from what I have been buying anyway, so it’s really nice to see consistent packaging and have a set of it here with me. SO PRETTY.
I’m half half in regards to the jackets and can’t say I’m really happy about them. I might change my mind when I wear them out and think they’re awesome – same goes for the pyjamas. I love the shoes, and I still hate the pants.
