Scary yet intriguing – we’ve all thought about these but may not dare to try: Weight loss/ diet pills.

I know I’ve been talking about losing weight for years on this blog (coming to think of it, it doesn’t feel like I’ve been blogging all that long, but guess what, I have been blogging for quite a while already – meep). I pretty much tried everything gimmicky from massage rollers (hey, they weren’t bad, they help with water retention), plastic wraps (lololol just a temporary fix that didn’t work long term), socks, creams/lotions/whatever you call them. The most effective thing that did anything for me was simply eating carefully and doing exercise – in the form of strangely, a hula hoop. Jogging or badminton strangely enough did nothing for me (insert WTF face here) – I would literally be drenched in sweat and sore muscles, but no results. W. T. H.

Over time I learned that yes, it was possible to get fat (be it real fat, or water retention) without caring about what you eat. It sounds agonising, and it kind of is – yes, what you eat can influence how you look. We hear it from parents all the time “being fat doesn’t run in our family, eat up!” – errr no.

I went from eating stuff like omurice, yukgaejang (OMG YUM), ramen, anything ricey – to a mere salad. Forget the iced green tea latte – just drink green tea. The green tea ice cream, milk and sugars add up in the long term. I couldn’t do this at home… so I did this whenever I went out. At home, the best I could do was just cut down on the amount I ate, tried to say no to more rice (I only have a bowl, but when she can, my mum will overfill it, so NO) and drank as much water as I could.

I did exercise daily for a year, and my weight came down. I dropped a size. IT WORKED.

Ever since I started working I started to get lazy and my daily exercise dropped to non-existent or perhaps once a fortnight or less. I stand long hours and I do stuff throughout the day, so in a way it’s a workout in itself, but I could feel the kilos creeping back on. Guess what, square one. Yep.

The best thing though, is that I don’t really care too much about weight, I care more about size – my size didn’t seem to change much (did bounce back but it doesn’t really concern me too badly), but there was a point where I was like “wait a minute, I think I’m starting to get fat again”.

At that time, it was the end of 2011 and I had 2 weeks’ annual leave. I started my daily exercise again, and bam, instant results.

One of the things that I decided to try with it this time as a crash course diet thing was diet pills.

I never believed in diet pills because I don’t think they do much other than make you go to the toilet more often. I honestly believe that they can totally mess up the way your body works, so I stayed away from them. I don’t think anything can burn fat apart from your heart palpitating hard. But still, I did hear from a friend that they worked, but you need 3 treatments for it to work. At the time, there was a promotion where you could buy 1 get 1 free… literally half price, so I split the cost of 3 treatments (altogether 6 boxes) with a colleague. It ended up being about $160 all up, or $20something a box, which wasn’t too bad considering it’s usually double the price. Apparently there weren’t any side effects, and the person who took them seemed to maintain her weight fairly well. Well, it was worth a try.

The price I highlighted is the price for EIGHT boxes per type. If you do the math, it’s a pretty good deal.

These pills are from a pharmaceutical company named BSC and have been medically tested – or so they claim. They seemed safe, otherwise they wouldn’t be on sale at Sasa, which is probably one of the largest and reputable beauty chain stores in Asia.

There were two different boxes, 3 of each type completes an entire treatment.

The first box is a yellow one, which is a fat burning type of pill, which you take in the morning when you wake up. The other type is one that gets rid of the belly fat and it is something you take after dinner before you sleep.

The whole process requires you to take these pills daily, drink a lot of water, and NOT take these if you’re having your menstrual cycle. Sounds pretty tedious, until you see how much you need to take.

The box also comes with a booklet (quite detailed, and environmentally unfriendly) which is NOT the one above. This is a short pamphlet with medical certificate evidence these pills have been tested. They also claim that within X days you lose Y inches from your waist. I can’t be bothered grabbing the booklet.

A reason why these are environmentally unfriendly – sealed for your protection, but a huge waste. They should have just done it like normal pills in the aluminium foil/ plastic packaging…

But rest assured, nothing has been tampered with. The packaging and presentation overall pretty much puts your mind at ease and is quite impressive.

The pills you take in the morning - there are 2 you need to take, in different colours. These pills are designed to help flush out any fat that’s stuck in your system overnight or from before.

The yellow pill breaks down fat, whilst the green pill detoxes.

Three pills need to be taken before night time and are 3 different colours… they look the same, but trust me they’re not. These target the stomach area so you wake up with a flatter stomach.

The three types do different things – one is designed to improve your skin, one is designed to retain the elasticity of your skin (so if you lose fat, it won’t be flabby so to speak), the other melts fat and reduces stomach fat.

All the pills have a plasticky taste so wash them down fast.

You don’t need to buy or take both sets at the same time, but if you do at the same time it’ll be much more effective. I had 2 colleagues buy the red box set only because they thought that the skin improving tablets would have benefits if the fat burning thing failed.

If you thought that taking 5 pills every 24  hours sounds so-so, here’s what 2/3 of a treatment looks like. There are 5 bottles missing from this image. That’s a lot of pills.

I did not complete the entire treatment.I went through 1/3 of a treatment and then stopped because it made me feel kind of dehydrated, and I didn’t think it was a particularly good thing.

How did the pills work though? Well, they worked. With exercise.

I doubt that hula hooping 2 weeks would have super dramatic results, but because I took the pills as well, it kind of speeded up the process. I did feel like I went through a body cleanse, and my stomach was flatter than I have ever experienced, which is quite amazing. I felt that my waist was smaller than it was when I just relied on exercise alone. They really did work, but there were a few things that made me a bit iffy about them – apart from feeling thirsty, I felt that if I continued to take these my body would start to rely on these to cleanse or detox. My appetite also decreased rapidly, so I wasn’t feeling hungry. I don’t mind taking pills occasionally, but not like, continuously – especially if it could potentially mess up my system.

I wasn’t sure if I was losing weight from exercise, the pills, or from the extra water I was drinking during the process. There were just too many factors that lead to more questions rather than answers.

Apart from that, it didn’t affect me otherwise. I didn’t break out, I slept fine; everything was fine. I just didn’t want to rely on the pills. My weight didn’t really bounce back up all that much or if any at all… I’d definitely finish the other 2/3s when I have time, but I won’t be ordering these again. FYI, you can take more than one treatment if you feel that you want to continue losing more weight. I felt that these pills weren’t so effective after taking them for about 3 weeks… so… hmmm. Yeah. Forcing you to buy 3 boxes for a full treatment is kind of a way to make more money on their behalf.

Let’s put it this way – I was happy with the results, and I believe they were quite effective. But the thing that made me unhappy was the idea of relying on pills to do so. It’s not a natural way of losing weight. Please lose weight the right way – it’ll be much healthier in the long term, trust me!

I guess I’ll be staying away from pills in the future. Still it was a good experience just to test it out and see how it went. Hopefully this may help some of you who have been wondering about the effectiveness of this product.

Dr Scholl MediQtto Sleeping Socks

Forget the shoe review trololol – I need to actually edit photos for that to happen, and I’m lazy. Hence I dug this out from my drafts. Enjoy…?

Recently I heard from my colleagues about this pair of socks and it was really drawing my attention since they actually seemed to be use/ful.

I talk a lot about having high water retention levels and how I’m swollen most of the time. It’s actually not my imagination because I got it confirmed by a work colleague… (that was kinda… idk, not exactly embarassing but I guess reassuring…? Somehow?) and well yeah. I know it. I know I don’t drink enough water and I know I don’t exercise enough.

Img src http://drscholls.jp/hosiery/mediqtto/products/sleep.html

I stand for quite a long period of time and whilst I was really happy to stand (I thought that my legs are getting slimmer by doing so) I overdid it and realised that they started to get swollen again. Then when I sit for longer, I get a fat stomach OTL

The swelling was actually so bad that it hurt whenever I tried to massage my calves – and to think that nowadays I rarely even get to sit for hours at a time, it was about time I had to do something about it. So I tried these socks, lol.

What the socks aim to do is squeeze various parts of your leg so that there are different pressure levels, causing the excess water retention to move away from the foot (as that’s how gravity works). They have different socks for different places (out and about, at home, sleeping) and I chose the ones that were for sleeping because they were actually the cheapest to try. Even so, “cheapest” was around $35 USD from sasa so that isn’t really cheap by my standards.

Should I believe that these socks work? I did once buy a pair of tights (they’re somewhere in my wardrobe, I JUST DON’T KNOW WHERE ANYMORE) that seem to have helped, but they were so tight that they actually cut into my skin >_> I decided to give these a try since I remember seeing these in Japanese magazines (who doesn’t recognise that graphic?!) and they should work because a lot of women have sworn by the product.

They’re actually fairly well made, and the best part is that the top bit where the elastic is at thight level isn’t actually that tight, so it doesn’t cut into your skin - it’s slightly looser than the rest of the sock so it doesn’t actually cut off your blood circulation. The tight part is generally the whole lavender bit of the sock, which is pretty interesting as it distributes the tightness quite evenly.

It also is an open toe sock so that people with different feet sizes can wear this easily. I found it super easy to match my heel and knee with the corresponding bits on the socks (marked in white) – and to my surprise they weren’t super tight, just tight enough, but very comfortable. They come in two sizes (medium, large – maybe there’s a small but I don’t know) which are determined by your height. I’m around 165cm and that’s pretty much the tallest they have on their height chart (so people who are 165cm or above don’t have water retention?!?!), so I naturally ordered a size large. It just fits perfectly. I pretty much slept like a rock the first night I tried these – they were super comfy and warm for a winter night’s sleep, and then woke up the next day with my legs actually feeling lighter.

If people tell you that these are weight loss socks, it’s most likely bluffy – yes, they may help in reducing water retention and helping you get a good night’s sleep if you suffer from tired legs – as we all should know by now, weight (or rather, mass) loss is only really achievable by an active lifestyle, and that’s not really going to happen during your several hours of sleep just by wearing a pair of purple socks.

You’re not supposed to wear these socks other than the time you’re sleeping, so take that into account. They are able to be washed, and they do lose their elasticity over time (so therefore you will need to spend more money to buy new pairs and that’s where the money rolls in) – but for now, they’re actually pretty nifty and I really really like them.

I found that aside from wearing these socks (which kinda help) is to just massage your legs while you’re watching TV or something – don’t just sit there and do nothing – you should take every chance you get to be active somehow – I found that helped in reducing the size of my calves.

I think that for $35 (plus shipping or however much they are here in Sydney – they probably go for about $60 or so which is totally not worth it considering that’s not how much they should be) it’s a good investment and worth buying. Even if it doesn’t help with your water retention (though it really should – massage your legs if they don’t, or else you may have a pretty serious problem) they are pretty comfy as bed time socks. They’re well made and are pretty good quality, so there’s nothing to worry about.

For something that has been advertised for so many years in Japanese magazines, I trust it should work for most people. I gave it a try and liked it – maybe you’ll like it too.

Some consumeristic crap coming to you soon later this week. Until then, snuggle tight – Sydney is freaking cold for no apparent reason. TIME TO WEAR THESE SOCKS TO SLEEP.

Half-scavenged Mazel tov Monday + Sweet Magazine Oct 2010

In case if you haven’t noticed, the only way humanly possible for me to churn out a post every single day is by drafting up a whole bunch of them and publishing them as each day goes by. I’m not superhuman by any standards; I’m running out of drafts to post LOL. Mostly because I don’t have any content to post up – not because of the fact that my drafting isn’t awesome enough. I just haven’t been out and about lately to take any photos.

I was meant to publish this on Monday but it slipped my mind because I needed to take photos but didn’t get around to it. Then I got busy – and well, you all know the rest. I really sincerely hope I get time to blog in the next month – it’s my final month at uni and I need to make it the best for myself.

Sweet Magazine October 2010

I love Japanese magazines. I bought my first Japanese magazine when I was in high school. I think I was in year 10 (possibly at the end of year 9) and I bought my first ever issue of UV magazine, which is a larger than A4 or foolscap even sized magazine with a free poster or two included with every issue (folded, of course), with interviews and pretty full page pics of new releases and stuff. All in Japanese. At the time I was really into Japanese rock – especially Visual Kei (no wonder why I like haute couture looks so much…) but yeah, a lot has changed since then. ‘Cept for the fact I still want blue hair one day. Hur hur hur.

I bought my first girly Japanese magazine when I was in uni possibly second year or so when I actually started to buy my own clothes and sort out my wardrobe. It was CanCam Magazine and Ebi-chan still remains fuuuu-gorgeous. I’ve also bought an issue of AneCam (bad idea, it was for office ladies – my bad – I thought there’d be lots to read inside – I guess it pays to look at all the designer bags though). I’ve also bought fashion catalogues from BAPE and Cher.  This is my first time buying Sweet – and I’m impressed. It’s glossy – like, pretty much every single page of it. Environmentally disastrous perhaps, but it’s not cheap like CanCam. Though it’s been quite a long time, I bet CanCam has improved (and it’s probably still the most popular magazine out there – or is it…?)

I’m quite stingy when it comes to magazines because I don’t see myself reading them all that often. I love Japanese magazines because they are thick, glossy and have lots of different images with all the pricetags on them. The downside is that these magazines are only about $8.50AUD (720Yen), but at Kinokuniya they sell for $21.76. I still bought it anyway of course, because I thought about it in terms of shipping. These magazines are heavy (I say 1.5-2kg), so if you had to ship it, it’d be about that much. Plus I look for freebies, so it’s alright :P

I lost my Cher bag last year so that was a big blow to me. Limited edition and all – and it cost me $30 to get with the magazine too! So I bought this as a consolation, namely because this magazine was so fat and had plenty to look at, so I justified it as such. Kinokuniya also had a sample bag on display which was quite nice, so I went and grabbed an issue. I have a feeling lots of people are going to be carrying one of these. For those who are curious, Cher is a fashion boutique chain in Japan with their own branded clothes and stocking other brands too. Their style is sweet, bohemian, chic. They have recently opened a store named “Cher Shore” which is for beach and summer stuff.

As always, the Japanese tend to box their freebies even though it didn’t need to be boxed lol.

Slide it out - and the bag is inside neatly folded.

The bag is large like it says on the front cover, and it is exactly like the one on display – the material is thick, sturdy, and it holds its shape well (in that photo above there’s nothing inside the bag and I didn’t tape or  hold the handles in any way). There’s also a snap button closure so your things won’t drop out so easily. Yay!

I know it looks black in the photo, but the bag is actually a mauve purple. This is gonna be great for the beach – so cute and definitely an upgrade from my lost bag. I’m impressed! In fact it’s great for lugging clothes around, which is great if you’re photoshooting or something like that.

Also I’m impressed with Sweet magazine – first Japanese magazine I’ve bought without a whole back section dedicated to plastic surgery and weight loss ads. The armpit ones are funny though – everyone has their arms raised and a circle is drawn around the pit – lolol.

Monday

… and the weight is…

Hi, can I cancel this segment now? I know I haven’t reached my 5kg target weight loss, but there’s no point in me writing about my weight loss or gain when I specifically already know that I’m not going to reach the 5kg target until I start cardio - which is going to be in November – because I don’t have time to do exercise. I used to use that as an excuse, but recently I just got reminded again how true it was – I just have a lot of work – in fact, too much work to do, and too little time to finish it. I will probably hit the “lowest point” I’ve achieved in mid-December, and if I’m very lucky, I bet I can lose my target 5 by Christmas. None of my measurements have bulked up – my thighs look really nice to me (they used to be chunky but now it’s less chunky) but I’m still gaining weight because of a variety of factors in my life.

This segment will therefore be cancelled/ be non-existent unless there is a significant breakthrough like fat losing floss is invented.

But for those who were curious, I gained 400g. And no, it’s not fat. You can’t gain 400g of fat in a week. It’s fluid.

It’s a valuable skill to have: glue, and painted nails

I have a really bad habit these days – and that’s to paint my nails and then attempt to make a model. The reason why I stopped painting them was because I hoped that I wouldn’t be lazy making models – doesn’t help though – it’s spring and I want my nails to be bright and happy despite what crappy weather there is.

One skill I’ve managed to have is to somehow handle glue and not have it affect my nail polish – I never knew it was even possible, but it is if you’re careful about it. My nails are still pretty much coloured nicely without any glue meltdown.

This was the reason why I was M.I.A this past week:

You might not believe it but it was incredibly hard to make because the parts got small >_< Well it’s still unfinished, but it’s a good start.

Today I had a talk and it was very helpful! Definitely going to make some changes to my design and it’ll be good.

=====

Short post and it’s late too – sorry about that. I should be doing something this weekend so I can write about it. If not, I’ll post up some random review during the week so y’all don’t get bored. I just hope tomorrow’s weather is good enough so I can go to uni and do some work. FINGERS CROSSED.

And tonight I shall hoop lol. I’ve been slowly getting back into it (still not daily, but every second day).

Last but not least – thanks to those people who have been clicking and checking out my Lookbook account! Unfortunately there’s nothing on it yet – but with a bit of luck, I might be able to get something up in the next month at the very earliest. I’ll blog about it so you won’t miss it.

Until next blog!

Mazel tov Monday – only, on a Tuesday.

Alright, I’m back into business but I’ve not a lot of time. I just didn’t want to flood email subscribers’ inboxes – not that I don’t flood them anyway – but hey, prevention > cure.

So I’ve been a bit busy lately with the whole opening the online shop kind of thing. Meh – that’s that – if you see something you like – go for it – if not, wait and we might post something else that might tickle your fancy. Who am I kidding?  Buy plzzz k thx. But anyway, Monday posts aren’t for that – I’ll write about my past week instead.

Weekend = working consistently

So I worked well during the weekend. Slow, but still alright. I’m still like “hur hur hur” over the fact that GO! (ie. Channel 99) is so awesome and is the only channel on TV to air The Nanny, Seinfeld and old episodes of the Big Bang Theory. There’s apparently another channel named “GEM” but I don’t know what number it is. If anyone knows, let me know – I’m hella curious.

I’ve been full of bloatsauce even though I’ve just started to work out again (yeah, I did sort of… stop and do it at highly irregular intervals), and I’m paying the price for it. I can see that the water content in my body is fluctuating like mad. I don’t really know why my body tends to hold onto so much water. Note to self: I drink water okay – stop retaining it ;_;

I couldn’t get my hair cut because of a bizarre calendar prediction, but it’s all good. I think.

Monday was just making food – so that was one day which sort of went down the drain.

Tuesday aka today, I went to get my hair cut (separate post), my shoes from Gmarket arrived (separate post), my ad got published in the Sept/ Oct magazine of Wealth Creator (separate post) – by the way for those who are interested in my ad, open the magazine SMACK BANG in the middle where the staples are. This issue has NO plastic wrapping, so if you drop by to a newsagency, you can flick through one – just have a look please! You don’t have to buy the magazine :D You’ll see it in the middle :) – bought another magazine with a bag included to replace my lost one about a year ago (separate post – you can see I will have a lot of posts queued for this week and the week ahead). I have hair dye which I will review – when I dye my hair at some stage.

And not to mention I still have stuff coming in the mail. \o/ I think I need to start working full-time for blogging at this rate.

…and the weight is…

I’m not really caring. I gained 200grams, but what do you expect. My legs went back up like half a centimeter in circumference (thigh only). Whatever! It’s all water. Once it’s summer and I finally finish uni and get a job, all of that will be gone. BEGONE!

I don’t expect miracles overnight, and I’m almost willing to bet like, in 2-3 weeks time I would have lost like a kilo again. Measuring just PLAIN SUCKS.

====

Sorry for this short post. I just don’t want to write too much because I have about 70 photos to process (not like I’ll be doing them all, but it’s a substantial amount of thinking to do) and given that I have a lot of stuff to do (uni work, and blogging), I can only just go by the premise that I’ll promise to give you all bigger and better posts in the days to come. Yes? :D For those who haven’t realised, my posts have been getting progressively detailed along the way. My poor fingers which do the typing – I kid :P

Here’s a photo I’m gonna spam the Internets with and to burn your eyes. Just kidding. It pretty much explains 2 posts I’m gonna post later this week.

And I wish that was a wig that I’m wearing. It’s not.

I can’t be bothered with blurring my face because the photograph is so damn grainy to begin with (sorry, that’s the downside of using a camera which doesn’t know how to focus on manual when you get into the frame – and auto went nutcrackers on me. I bet this was ISO 1600 or something stupid :\). I think P jinxed me because I ended up getting a fringe. Not that I didn’t have one to begin with, but it’s been a loooong time since it’s been THAT short. Guh.

Till next blog!

I am off to read the October 2010 issue of Sweet Magazine - IT HAS AYU ON THE FRONT.

Mazel tov Monday

Fierce. Fierce. And oh – fierce.

My favourite clip out of the 3 – they saved the best for last. I loved Minzy’s styling with the black dog – that was amazing – and I really really want to do my hair like Bom now – GEEZ.

Saturday

Didn’t go to Animania :(

But on the other hand, we took a lot of photos which should be coming very soon. I’ll definitely let you all know what it’s about and stuff :)

I walked around for 2.5 hours in my Gmarket heel boots – felt pretty self conscious because it felt like people were looking at my shoes since they were undeniably high (10cm with platform, okay) – but they were comfortable. I probably should have ordered a size smaller because my foot kept slipping – I got a grand total of 2 blisters on the one foot, which admittedly isn’t all too bad.

The bad thing is having to pop 2 blisters, which is really yuck. I just wonder why blisters even exist in the first place? They’re such a useless “invention” – all they do is make your feet hurt unnecessarily. *hmphs* But the great thing is I’d do it again :D I need those gel inserts – which I still don’t have, since I ordered the wrong type :(

Good and sad thing is that I now can fit comfortably into size 28 jeans. Not loose, but more comfortable than just tight. Other jeans are getting increasingly large. Even my shorts! I need to size down :\ That’s the bad thing – need more new clothes. Guh.

Sunday

Sunday was a complete mess of a day because I woke up with a headache, went to buy groceries with my mum, and then got home feeling pretty awful. Lasted throughout the day, napped late afternoon, ate half a dinner (so that the medicine wouldn’t go to an empty stomach) and then attempted to sleep at 10pm. Needless to say, it didn’t happen. I was awake for the majority of the night, having weird dreams or imaginations (couldn’t figure which one it’d be) and here I am now, wide awake, slightly disorientated and although not sleepy, probably a bit too tired for my liking.

I think I achieved nothing on Sunday, which is pretty sad.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately because I’ve been thinking about what’d happen after I finish uni and what jobs I’m going to look for. I’m a bit freaked out since I have admittedly been quite sheltered, but at the same time I am optimistic that I can start making a living (somehow) and be productive. I dunno. I just worry.

Monday

Woke up feeling like how I described. Not tired, but not energetic. Got plenty of stuff to do today, I think. Too bad the other things in my life aren’t keeping up with me.

…and the weight is…

So I think I’ve plateau’d – same weight as last week despite walking ridiculous distances in heels training my leg muscles and doing hula hoop sessions throughout the week.

My waist now however is about 26 inches, and I’ve lost 1.5cm from my thigh – so I’ve definitely slimmed down my legs in that department. YAY!

I guess it does pay off to wake up each morning with almost every muscle in your body aching.

====

I’m very sorry again to have to make this post short – I really need to just get everything I need under control first and have everything organised before I make a decent choc-a-block post like the one I did on Friday. My life has been uneventful over the weekend – or if it has been (which Saturday, it was), I have no pretty pics to help document it in any way. I’d blog about what I’ve bought in terms of orders and stuff, but they haven’t been shipped or haven’t arrived, so that will suck. Majorly suck.

I will be back tomorrow with an awesome post. Promise. I just really need to get out of my place really soon – <3

Mazel tov Monday

Saturday

What is with the crap weather lately? I was meant to go out and buy a few things. Instead I succumbed to online shopping and spent way too much on 2 items of clothing.

But I bet they’ll be super prettysauce when I get them. *skips*

I was feeling super fat (actually, I still am) from sitting down for an entire week with very little to no exercise, so I took the initiative of doing 2 hours of hula hooping.

Good news – I think my legs are possibly just that little less swollen because I can kick slightly higher and closer to what I could do back in high school. Guh – unfitness sucks.

Chicken curry puffs – omnomnom – and fyi, they’re not French. I just like saying le this or le that. Why? Because I can.

With crap weather, good food is a good idea. Not my best batch because I’ve never tried making so many in one go – we made a total of seventy eight (78) of these.

Epic is epic. Noms.

Sunday

I went out – as you can tell with the previous post about Alex Perry for diva.

Random picture:

Missha Anti Trouble Patches – used to be called AC Patches.

I realised I had run out of the pimple patches I reviewed ages ago here. Lol – such an outdated product review. But now there are supposedly 10 – 6 larger stickers and 4 smaller ones. Not sure how it works and not sure if they’re as good as the old ones, if not better – sort of regretting getting so many, but I wanted to use my Missha membership card to get 5% store credit. Teehee!

And I also bought a copy of the Wealth Creator magazine for those who followed my Twitter, under the assumption my ad appeared in it. It appears that the “latest copy” isn’t on sale yet so I bought the wrong one. Eight dollars- gone! Also means I need to delay blogging about it :( Sorry peeps. I really wanted to write about it, but no! It’s not on sale >_>

INTERLUDE: 2NE1 1st album: 09/09/2010

Why HELLO THAR – why is red suddenly so attractive all of a sudden? And why do I want to also have red hair????
Img src: YG Entertainment

So, my favourite 2NE1 member Park Bom has dyed her hair a crazy red, but I’m loving it. The first colour I ever dyed my hair was red. Just sayin’. Never liked it much though because the colour washes out of the hair so much. But  now I’m having second thoughts. Do I want to give red hair a second chance? Yes? No? I’m split/ torn.

In fact, the whole styling concept of all 4 of them is quite interesting. I personally think that CL got the best concept out of them all.

Jeremy Scott, hair extensions, visual eye puzzles and military jackets – oh it’s like jizz in my pants.

I can’t wait to hear their album – we need some music yo! The Kpop music scene has been a bit slow lately.

Monday

… and the weight is…

Cheh! I only lost 0.1kg since last week’s weighing. That water was harder to get rid of than I had thought!

I better start getting into the routine of daily hula hooping :S

I’m cutting this section short because I didn’t measure myself – I say it’s about the same.

Cutting this post a bit short because I really want to go hula hoop now. My package still hasn’t arrived and I’m asking for a refund. If there’s no email reply by tomorrow, I’ll send out another one. Nothing on Wednesday? I’ll just file a dispute. HA!

Onto other matters, I bought myself a shoe rack today. I assembled it, and then it sparked a mini closet rearrangement/ cleanout where many empty boxes were thrown away. I currently have 12 pairs of shoes sitting on my rack, filling it up completely. The sad thing is, I have 7 other pairs elsewhere – or actually, make that 8. Oops! Maybe I should stop buying/ acquiring shoes.

Until next blog!

What time is it? 2:02AM

A few of you may or may not be interested in what I study and what I do in terms of technology – where my blogging headquarters which will dominate the world workstation is and what it is like.

This is the very reason why I have gained almost a kilo in a week. I’m awake and still alive at a ridiculous time of 2:02am.

After taking photos and processing them, it’s already 2:18am currently as I am typing/

When am I going to sleep? Well, it largely depends on when I finish the bulk of my work. I am going to wake up very early (in less than 5 hours, in fact), so I can afford to sleep. I just would really prefer to get most of it done now. Why not stay up until it’s all finished? Because I don’t want to collapse. Once I slept barely 30 minutes in a 48 hour period – my head ached and I could barely stand. It was very real. Some people don’t mind staying up late and having little sleep, but for me, I was never really fit or healthy to begin with. Seriously people, take care of your health. This is one reason why I do not like architecture as much as I could – it’s simply because it’s extremely unhealthy. I’m not saying I dislike it or hate it – I’m just merely stating the truth – the lifestyle is quite unhealthy. That’s why I stepped it up this year to get back into shape – 4 years has really worn me down lol. But I just have a little longer to go and I’ll be happy :)

Most importantly – why blog if you’re busy? It’s my way of taking a break. I really think I’m addicted to blogging. The first time I ever typed when I was in grade 4 – I was 8 years old at the time and I didn’t own a computer, yet I could type faster than the others even though I had to look at the keys as I typed. Me + typing = inseparable.

This is my workstation. It’s not really that clear – but I have no space to work- I literally have a pile of crap in between my big ass printer and big ass computer. As a bonus though, at least my computer is just one piece and I don’t need to deal with a CPU box – but this photo is deceiving – looks really alright, but in fact it’s cramped, and I have no table space. I just have enough to rest my elbows on the table as I type.

I know my computer looks scary. There are all sorts of windows open and there are programs you’ve probably never dreamed of seeing. That’s my presentation so far – and as you can see, it’s not half bad in the sense that there is actually stuff on it. Yes, all those drawings are mine – the right panel is empty because I just need to clean up my drawings a bit. Once I do that I can chuck them on and it’s good to go. The lower left corner is empty because I don’t want to do it yet. Lolz. Still procrastinating even at this hour :P

This is the amount of doodling I’ve been doing the past week. I know it doesn’t look like a lot, but I have several more cards and bits of paper with scribbles. Plus those drawings you see at the top part of the image are REALLY DENSE – so it’s not like I didn’t do work.

Anyway, it’s 2:29am now – I better get back to work. I think I’ll sleep at 4am and leave the rest for the time when I wake up.

I can see that 2 bright cookies have clicked the new addition to my left sidebar. Keep an eye out for it – it’ll be coming very soon and I’ll write about it in further detail :)

Next blog? When I wake up I’ll publish the fashion post.

Good night, wherever you are!

Mazel tov Monday

Saturday

Woke up early to go shopping with my mum. I was really really tired on Friday, and Thursday, and for the majority of Saturday. I’m not sure why I’m so tired – I’ve been having sleep, I’m eating enough too. I can only hope that it’s that I am growing; yes! It is possible to still grow even at the age of 22! Last year, I grew an entire centimetre, for those who are sceptical. If that’s the case, I wouldn’t mind being tired so I can grow more.

FACT: Hanging around attractive people who are tall (well okay, they don’t have to be attractive, you just have to like them) will make you (subconsciously) grow taller. If I had known this, I would be crushing on tall guys during high school – that way I would probably be a lot taller than I am now! Too bad I didn’t know any guys back in high school – albeit tall ones :(

C had a photoshoot with a young photographer by the name of I. If he has a blog or something I’d definitely link it but I don’t know of it – so it shall remain unlinked for the mean time :) DING! http://www.ifungstudio.com/ <– You know you want to click it!

Silly me, thought that he took photos of buildings and stuff, because C mentioned that he needed help (?) and that there were no models (?). Rocked up in a cream coloured sweater, acid wash jeans, black blazer and converses yo *facepalms*. Hair unstraightened, eyemakeupless, no blush, no accessories (I didn’t wear earrings or even my watch!) – I was sitting outside Town Hall for a very long time, absorbing over 1.5 hours of Vitamin D – and very possibly, loads of harmful UV rays. Yes, I’ll absorb it like I enjoy it.

Watched a lot of people walk past dressed for Royal Australian Fashion Week – I think I might very possibly consider buying tickets next year for it. It looks like it’s quite fun. Definitely a thing to go to for the fashion interested or conscious – for the meantime, I’ll just try to improve my wardrobe bit by bit. Also I cannot understand how people can wear heels so much - I think it’s time that I seriously start practising.

RANDOM SNIPPET: A girl asked me if I was there for Alex Perry or not >_>

Methinks it was almost beckoning me to buy a ticket. Next year!

I also saw a taxi drive with a flat tyre… >_<

Anyway, could you believe that I is only 17 years old?! Makes me an old fart in comparison. He was fully equipped with a very exxy camera, lots of camera lens, flash, and a backpack full of everything you need for taking photos – including a reflector and a tripod.

My job for the day was to help hold the reflector and reflect light :D I’ve only seen people do it before, but today was the first time I did it. I’m hoping that his shots turn out okay and that I reflected it correctly >_< That reminds me that I still need to buy a reflector – a tripod is coming my way in the mail *rubs hands* I’m pretty sure I’ll soon be able to conquer the world after I get a reflector lol.

Behind the scenes shot:

He’s very enthusiastic – in fact, he’s the first photographer I’ve met who’s so energetic to shoot from the floor :)

My contribution to the photography world:

There was another one equally as lovely however I realised I took it with the homeless guy on the bench in the background :\ I have a few more, but this was definitely my favourite out of the set. I took a grand total of 45 photos on Saturday – mostly because I was doing more reflecting than shooting :P

The day ended quite early however, since there weren’t many places with natural light that we could go to and shoot with few people around.

Anyway, find C via her blog here for more loveliness!

Sunday

Excuse the first person present tense change in tone – I’m typing this on Sunday, so of course, it’ll sound funnyn since I’m talking about today or tomorrow, when in fact it was yesterday. Did I confuse you? SUCCESS.

It’s “get all your crap together and start doing work” mode. About 40cm worth of paper roll later, I think I’ve finally figured it out. Not entirely, but it’ll do for now. I’d be very happy if I could finish the carpark tonight, actually – as well as the lobby. Then I need to look at the section, and then build it in 3D. Which I’ll probably do for tomorrow. Don’t worry if you have no idea what I’m talking about – just trying to get all of my thoughts together.

I’ve been churning through 3 tracks on repeat – Shayne Ward- Breathless (which I’ve blogged about, and a song I dearly love – I discovered it when I was watching You’re Beautiful – it’s the track he listens to before he gets chased by the pig :P ), Shayne Ward – No Promises (it’s a cover of the Bryan Rice - which I haven’t heard, but I am liking this song), and also Craig David – Fill me in.

Why, why is Craig David so understated/underrated?

I was talking to a friend (who also likes Craig David) and we were both wondering why people didn’t like his songs or why they never hit number 1 – the one that comes to mind is “Walking away” – I liked that song when it hit the charts! Not really sure why.

Wut?! Only just a little over half a million views?! Are you kidding me?!

Heard this song while I was eating in Ramenkan earlier this week and discovered it was actually his debut track. If you just have a listen, he’s incredibly talented and worth worshipping. Cannot believe how much better this is than some of the crap we listen to these days with autotune – but anyway, taking you back down memory lane. Check out Shayne Ward too, k thx – guy deserves more love.

For those who don’t want to listen to the song or want to know what the song is about before listening to it if you haven’t heard it (but I’m sure you would have! Somewhere!), it effectively describes a typical relationship where the girl’s parents are watching her every move and it’s affecting their relationship. I think it’s pretty real and can apply to anyone with strict parents. Got strict parents? Know someone who has them? Worth a listen.

Speaking of which I really miss music from 10 years ago – *looks at Destiny’s Child album on CD rack* – should listen to it again some time. Along with Britney. And that blasted Graduation song by Vitamin C.

Monday

…and the weight is…

I knew from the very moment I woke up that I had gained some considerable amount of weight. My legs were heavy, and I had barely any sleep – I planned to wake up early,  but I forgot to turn the alarm on. (I use a digital watch as an alarm clock if I need to wake up at any other time that’s not 7am. I set the time – but forgot to turn it on. D’oh.)

I gained 0.8kg which is not very good. I think this is largely due to me sitting down the majority of the week working on this submission – so yes, work does take its toll and I don’t like it. The upside is that after this, we have a week of holidays, so I’ll be leaving the house almost every day if I can to get some exercise. I’m not worried about the extra weight; I’m only worried if it’s something bad – but at this stage of time, it’s okay.

My waist for some reason measured at 26.5″ today – I think it’s water. (How else can you gain almost a kilo in a week, anyway?)

Just to let you all know, I’m still going to aim for the 26″ inch target, but afther that I’m going to aim for not 25, but 24″. There’s a news article or well, it’s a study known for a long time, in which waist cicumference to hip circumference ratio at 0.7 is the most attractive. Therefore, find your hip circumference, and multiply by 0.7 - I get arond 23.6 inches, but I’d be happy with 24. It’s a long shot – but I have the rest of the year to do it. I only need to lose about 2 inches – I could, in theory, achieve that in 2 months if I kept up my old diet of salads and daily hula hooping.

After this week, though.

Onto other matters

  • Might start the 30 day challenge that M did on tumblr. Maybe. Possibly later – I was going to do it during the month of September,  but seeing I’m busy until the 3rd, I won’t be starting it until the 3rd and it wouldn’t be so cool. Not even in November either, unless if I queue all my posts – because that’s when my final presentation is due. Maybe April?
  • Sorry but no posts until Friday this week – I promise to blog a bit more after that. It’s because I have my first large presentation on Friday - so I’ll be extremely sleep deprived and busy until then :)
  • Digital camera post!
  • Some random beauty review – I’ll find something to write about.
  • Will definitely blog about orders coming in. They should be coming today. GIMMEEEE NAOOOOOOOO.

So from sleep deprived me to wonderful reader you – enjoy your week!

Mazel tov Monday

Uneventful weekend.

So, on Saturday I went out briefly by myself in the wonders of self-therapy shopping.

It wasn’t without reason, however; you will be able to unravel the secrets within the next few months. Out of curiosity, how many Australian readers do I have who follow this blog via bookmarks/ any self governed way? If possible, leave me a comment stating where in Australia you’re from and what your interests are (Beauty, Fashion, Fitness, Music – whatever – or perhaps why you follow this blog – for Freaky Fridays or Mazel tov Mondays or anything random in between). Don’t be shy – I know of maybe one or two – but if you choose to be shy, that’s okay too :P Just wondering, tis all :) I’d be interested in knowing who is Australian, following this, and not from Sydney – but anyway, it doesn’t really matter all too much as long as you’re all having fun. Cookies to you all out there :D

Sunday was even worse – stayed at home and thought to myself that I’d start doing work – instead I get out my drafts, start blogging, and doing meaningless stuff like wallet-searching on ebay. I know, it’s a really bad habit. But I’ve been meaning to buy a small messenger bag (by small I mean 25cmx25xm at the very least)/ swing / sling bag. Mum will not let me buy something as small as a wallet sized bag. I weep in my sleep. (But I figured even if I did buy it she wouldn’t be able to stop me – hurhurhur)~

Pic/ Discovery of the Week

Sorry for the photoshopped image (removed the background and I did do a few tweaks here and there – but the outline tracing is all pretty true to the original pic, so I didn’t cut more background out to make myself look skinnier – dude, I have integrity, okay – but I did get rid of a few yucky bumps I forgot to smooth out – fabric only!), but I had a lot of stuff in the background I didn’t want to show in the photo. I figured it’d be neater like this. Clothing is washed out, too, because I tried to get the photo close to the colour of my actual skin LOL. I am petty like that.

FYI I do not use magic wand. I use the pentool to extract the background. Comes with years of making anime desktop wallpapers – oh Photoshop <3

Reason for posting said image is that I’m happy to announce that I can now fit into clothing one size smaller than usual!

HELLS YEAH.

I noticed my clothes were getting a bit loose lately. I was forced to buy a size smaller (thinking that it’s better to buy something smaller than bigger – I know, bad thinking – but I have friends who are small and can wear it :D ) and ooft – I can fit into it. Photograph is deceiving, it looks alright like that – side view is another story, because said dress is a bit short for my liking. I’ve been neglecting my hula hoop so I decided to give it some love on Saturday. Cannot wait to lose more inches here and there. Happysauce.

For those who are curious, I usually wear a size 10 (ie. size small/ S). I now can fit somewhat comfortably in a size 8, but I still have a lot of work to do!

So I’m now quite stoked – I can tell people I’m a size 8 :D But I don’t really care about that still. There’s still no way I’ll fit into size XS though. I’ll most likely still buy size 10 anyway even though it’s on the slightly loose side. I’d be gutted if I continued to lose weight and eventually be too small for size 10 – all my clothes would be too big! Not gonna happen any time soon, but hey, it’s possible! Worst case scenario is if I buy all size 8 and then gain weight – that’d suck big time!

But anyway just thought I’d share with you all. C has been saying she thought that I was a size 8, and I was adamant I was a size 10. Well, you were right girl! So to all you dieters out there, this is why I keep saying you shouldn’t overdo it – I think that I’m borderline overdoing it at the moment – I just wanted to slim down; I didn’t expect to or want to drop a dress size. I’m very happy already if I can look nicer in my usual size. I think I can still keep going for a bit more though, but my 10kg weight loss thing I think is a bit too ridiculous considering I haven’t even lost 5kg and I’ve dropped a dress size. Most I am considering is 7kg now, but of course, I have to lose my 5 first. Don’t overdo it!!

(PS: For those who think I’m a hypocrite telling others not to overdo it, put this into perspective – my measurements are still much more than those girls who say they want to “slim down” or tone up, and my BMI currently is 20.4. Methinks cutting down my BMI to 20 will not hurt; anything below 19.5 however is getting towards underweight and I am NOT going to put myself in that range. My message is directed to those people who are already borderline underweight or have tiny measurements and still want to reduce more.)

…and the weight is…

I won’t be disappointing you guys! I did weigh myself this morning!

So for 2 entire weeks I dodged the scales. My weight bounced up I think, but not by much. I’ve only done 2 hula hoop sessions in the past week (actually, make that 1.5 sessions since I only did 30 minutes for one). I don’t know what I’ve been doing – because I honestly haven’t been doing much at all. I’ve been eating icecream at Passionflower and I haven’t even been drinking stuff like green tea for metabolism. I have, however, been eating spicy foods maybe 1 in 3 meals. And I’ve been walking a great deal, too.

My weight dropped – I’m now only 0.3kg away from hitting my 5kg weight loss target. This has been the lowest I’ve weighed since I started my diet/ exercise routine. I beat my lowest weight by 100 grams so far. I’ve lost a total of 4.7kg, and that weight is here to stay OFF since my weight has been dancing around those numbers for the past month or more. YAY.

I also did my measurements again – my waist is JUST maybe 1/5 of an inch more than 26 inches – I honestly haven’t done anything much to reduce it! I think next week or the week after I’ll be able to already hit my 26 inch waist target.

You may ask, what next after that? Of course, aim for 25 inch waist. There’s no harm in that. But I’ll get to 26 first, even though it’s already almost as good as 26.

My leg measurements are still the same no matter what I do. But then I haven’t done any jumping exercises at all – if I did do them, I’d get faster results. So far though, they’re just firming up. I approve 8D

Hung Parliament? Facepalm.

I wish that they’d make a decision already/ announced a winner. AUD is going down because of the uncertainty of Australia’s Government – so if you wanted to buy something, I suggest you buy it either today or after the announcement and hope that the dollar goes up. Sucks.

However, this video effectively explains everything about the Australian Election in just one minute and thirty seconds.

Alright, it’s going to be another post cut short – sorry for that. But I ordered a lot of stuff in so I’ll be writing about that when it comes…

Here are the posts coming up this week:

  • Tuesday (tomorrow): Gakkenflex Bling
  • Wednesday: Eyebrow pencil comparison; Christian Dior and Etude House
  • Thursday: Unknown (will think of a topic then)
  • Friday: Freaky Fridays

Enjoy the start to your week – I have my fingers crossed that I can do something productive in the next few days!

Freaky Fridays

Okay, this Friday really sucked for me.

I was originally not going to blog, but I thought it’d suck more if I made it a promise (and I don’t even have anything due in) and not blog when I’m supposed to. I can’t skip!

This is gonna be a really crap post -  I apologise for that in advance lol – but then the post I did last night makees up for it, I guess? Food pics always make people happy. I think ;) Also I retweet some amusing things in my Twitter anyway – so I guess you all can be occupied with that if you need, lol.

Song of the moment

It’s so damn hard for me to let you go… T_T??

Currently pumping this on repeat. I really love this song for its ballad and its gradual build up. Don’t ask me why, I just tend to really like songs like that. Also describes a lot of what I’m thinking about too, unfortunately.

And for those who haven’t noticed, BoA’s back in the Korean music scene. I know I’m a bit late myself, but just letting those who didn’t know know anyway. I used to really like her back in high school because of her song “Duvet” for an anime named Serial Experiments Lain. I thought it was such a beautiful song lol.

Australia goes to voting polls this Saturday, 21st August 2010

Well for Australian citizens over the age of 18, it’s your chance to vote! Well not really a chance since it’s compulsory.

Who are you going to vote for?

I’m not going to say who I’m going to vote for, because I’m not convinced either “large” party is that great or better than the other.

Be prepared for your mainstream TV to be full of really boring counting vote news – it’s a bit like staring at the stock exchange. Well okay, if I put it that way it’s not that boring – but I used to always think that just one channel is enough lol. I want to be like, watching The Simpsons or something instead if you know what I mean.

Need to dig out motivation!

This week I am seriously doing to do a lot of work! No more distractions! I’ll do my hourly daily exercise! It’s been a few days since I touched my hula hoop (Monday, in fact – or perhaps Tuesday was the last time I did it…) – I miss you hula hoop! I shall give you my love soon! xoxo

PS:

  • Gmarket gave me my voucher (YUS) – now what to get. Navy-coloured jacket vs heel of some sort. It’s a toughie.
  • My dress hasn’t been shipped yet!!!!! RAWR – I will chase that up soon U_U Wtf – shouldn’t take this long.
  • Thanks again for the recent comments – I believe I’ve answered all of those. Keep any questions coming!
