11 Questions

1. What are your pet peeves?
Oh wow, too many to list! I even started a series of blog entries highlighting these, I’ve practically lost count. I guess I shall try to list three of these? Haha – I’m actually a person who really complains deep down about these things >:\ I think one thing that annoys me the most is people who walk really slow in front of you when you’re walking down the street – and it’s really hard to overtake them, I hate it when that happens.  Straightening my hair just for it to curl slightly after I’ve finished. Finishing something just to find out I’ve missed something, or having someone tell me to change something – I really hate it when that happens.

2. Ever wished that you were taller or shorter?
I’m 165cm (that’s around 5 foot 4) so you can say it’s the ideal height for most girls, or super common, average height. I can’t say I’m tall, but I can’t say I’m short either. I did (and still do) wish that I were taller – around 167cm would have been my ideal height. I did grow a centimetre in 2009, so I guess there’s a bit of hope…?

3. What are your favourite type of shoes to wear?
Anything that looks cool, really, but need to be comfortable. I walk and stand quite a lot, and although I have small feet, they tend to swell up a lot and pretty fast too :\ I also think that shoes need to be good quality and usually I equate quality with the price tag or label. I now try to have all my shoes “Made in Italy” (I find they tend to last a heck of a lot longer) – so I guess anything that fits under those conditions, I’d buy.

But honestly, I have a thing for boots – I really really love boots in all forms, be it ankle boots, high top sneakers (they can be considered boots too!), knee high boots, heeled boots, gumboots/ wellingtons - you name it.

4. Do you listen to music on your phone or portable music device?
Neither – I rarely listen to music when I’m out and about. If I listen to music it’s probably via my PC with my headphones on.

5. Did you learn a musical instrument when you were younger?
Yes, I learned the keyboard LOL. It was lame, I think I got to grade 4, but I still couldn’t play with my left and right hand both playing simultaneously. Then I quit.

And then there was the recorder, which was a compulsory instrument in junior high… but seriously, who CAN’T play the recorder?

6. Do you prefer online or instore shopping?
It really depends on what it is – online shopping has so many awesome bargains, and it’s all mailed to me so I even get to save time and transport costs. I love shopping for skincare online because it’s a lot of cheaper, but for things that involve colours or sizes (such as pants) I really have to buy them instore. Most of the things I order online are either one size or are dresses, because I know there’s a 95% chance it’ll fit me.

Even so, 90% chance is if I order a dress online, it’s way too short on me, so I end up wearing them all as long tops.

7. What’s your fondest memory of your childhood?
I didn’t really have a great childhood to be quite honest… possibly the best memory I had was one of my birthdays… I had a fruit cake, took lots of photos and got to sit on my dad’s lap.

A close second would probably be in Hong Kong with my cousin – we argued to no end while I was there, but towards the end of the trip I taught him how to say “cheeseburger” in English and that really made my day. I was 4 years old, he was 10 years old at the time.

8. Do you learn any languages?
Not officially – it’s all kind of “along the way” thing.

There are 3 languages I usually list on my resume as languages I know and have little difficulty with – English, Cantonese, Mandarin. The unofficial languages I know include Japanese and a dialect named Hakka – I used to actually translate Japanese manga, songs and various other crap in my spare time, so I was kind of fluent in a literal since. Hakka is a dialect I understand by ear, but cannot utter more than basic sentences. It’s been a very long time since I’ve used or encountered either one, so they’ve kind of dwindled and died inside me. If I have the chance, I’d like to pick them both up again.

At work I’m really trying hard to learn Mandarin – as in, polishing it up. There’s also the occasional Cantonese slang, but my manager is kind enough to explain it to me so I’m not clueless lol. I think my Mandarin has really improved drastically these few months as it’s all I’ve been using to communicate with my workmate – at least I don’t have to pause for about 5 seconds before any sound comes out of me lol. No really, I’m a lot more fluent than before.

The only language I’m genuinely interested in picking up bits and pieces at the moment is Korean. I knew how to read and write the alphabet in high school, but it’s only now that I’m really listening to their music, watching their drama and variety shows that I’m slowly picking up really really basic bits. Let’s just say I know enough to know if a Korean customer just doesn’t like a product or thinks it’s too expensive or thinks it’s pretty. It’s sometimes really nifty because we do have some Korean customers who know little English, and I kinda know what they’re trying to say.

9. What type of books do you like to read?
… manga/ Japanese fashion magazines? Lol, I really don’t read much these days. The most literate I get is reading something like www.fmylife.com or www.cracked.com – hardly any scholastic merit, I must say.

10. Do you like to collect anything? If so, how big is your collection and when did you start collecting?
I go through phases, so if there’s a collection of anything, it’s never really all that big. I stop collecting when I start to think I’ve got a terrible obsession that really needs to stop.

My ongoing collection will probably be my stash of designer goods, I suppose. I started when I was about 21 years old.

My collection is really getting out of control… it’s hard to say how many items I have because I have bought a lot of what I consider “borderline” designer branded items… but for items that are definitely designer (Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Burberry, Prada – you get the idea) as in boutique style items, I currently own at least 43 items (there are probably more, I probably did miss a few items). The items include things like accessories (belts, jewellery, sunglasses, watches), clothes (tops, jackets, pants), shoes, scarfs, hats, keychains, bags, wallets.

I did not include items such as skincare, cosmetics or fragrances.

Just a small portion of crap I own. Yes, I have a Burberry newsboy hat. Why, I do not know.

Out of the brands I purchase, the largest collection is surprisingly from Burberry, at 12 items. That includes a travel bag, three jackets (to be precise, one jacket, one coat/cape, one quilt jacket), two tops, a jumper, three pairs of shoes, scarf and a hat.

So yeah. I bought all of these items (none of these were gifts, believe it or not). I’m turning 24 this year… so it means I got on average about 15-20 items each year… >_>

My collection is relatively small compared to some people I know, but still, it’s the biggest collection I own, because it’s the most expensive… and I know it’ll only just get larger because I have a lot of things I have yet to buy…

11. Do you prefer typing or writing (by hand) your notes?
By hand, by far. The only time I like to type is when I blog, but if it’s taking notes, definitely by hand. I find that if I type my notes, I don’t use them. Never used them, actually, lol. I mean, even several years down the track I can still find my handwritten notes and they are still useful now. Awesome.

And so I shall tag…

@onthebeat, @lolitium and @camillesioco, though y’all are under ZERO obligation to do it LOL.

Here are my 11 questions anyway…

1. The one thing you’re really particular/ obsessive compulsive about is…?
2. Are you particular about grammar?
3. Were you a good student/ are you good at studying?
4. What is your favourite type of food to eat?
5. Do you have a favourite place, if so, where and why?
6. What are your dressing habits?
7. Face to face socialising or virtual (phone, computer/ net) socialising?
8. Where are your favourite places to shop?
9. What is your heritage?
10. In regards to self improvement, is there something you would like to learn/ pick up?
11. What are your long term goals in life?

Wow, that was long. Hope you all enjoyed my massive block of text… I’m really drained now LOL. Work tomorrow, good night everyone!

Time flies so quickly, the plunge into full time work entails

So, it’s already another week once again – time goes by really quickly when I’m working.

On Saturday I dyed my hair with Solfine Professional Colour Dye – it took forever so I couldn’t go out to the city as it would have been a bit too late. I chose the colour 7.0 “Blonde” which sounds really scary, but it was actually a medium brown colour perhaps a shade lighter than my existing hair (which I dyed “Tobacco”). The result was (with 20% developer – my hair is naturally black) pretty evident – I could see the colour, but for some reason it looks… red?

When I first dyed it it looked like a honey brown, but under interior lighting my hair looks red. Eurgh. I am disappoint. Hopefully with a proper wash (I didn’t shampoo my hair which might explain it…) the “red” goes away. It probably will, because my hair has a tendency to get darker over time. Anyway, I took pics, but nothing good enough as a colour swatch so I won’t post them up. I might update about it later, but yeah… that’s it for now.

Sunday (aka today) was essiting stuff – firstly because I get to see a friend I haven’t seen for yonks, and secondly because I actually have photos to post. ZOMG, THIS IS REAL. It’s my last Sunday off, so I had to meet up with uni friend A since her only day off is Sunday (I know, it’s crazy, she works 6 days a week). This was pretty much the last opportunity to meet up, so we did it!

We sat for a pot of tea ($3.50 – chamomile tea) at some cafe in Westfield (forgot the name, but it overlooks Pitt Street and it has a name in a foreign language) and then browsed Westfield. Went into the Thomas Sabo store! They have a lot of stuff lol – must be a nightmare to look up the prices.

We then went here and there, and went into the Pandora store along Pitt Street – very nice, big and airy. Only two sales people?! I was very surprised. But a loooot of gold beads lol. Expensive.

I then took the opportunity to use up my gift card to get a silver bead (the place where I’m working at has sold out on this one – I know, because I sold the last one OTL) that I was planning to get for my bracelet. I bought it at Myer because I had a giftcard - saves me a teeny bit of money, so that’s one less bead to buy. One bead closer to completing the darn bracelet – because I’ve only filled up a third, it keeps rotating because the heavy part (where the beads are) keeps ending up on the underside of my wrist, not on the top where it should be so I can display my bracelet design! Therefore my logic is if I complete the bracelet, it doesn’t matter which part is heavier or how the bracelet rotates around my wrist – you see beads no matter what.

Solid Sterling 925 Silver treasure chest with a lock on one side and a heart on the other; RRP $30AUD.

Like I said before, my bracelet is pink/red with flowers and hearts, so this fits my theme quite well. I would have taken a full photo of the packaging (trust me, every single Pandora retailer does their packaging differently), but I lost the bow they had stickytaped to the little bag :( Oh well.

It was around time for lunch and so we hit up one of our favourite hangouts – Takeru! It was a very long time since we’ve went there together. It has been also a very long time since I’ve had a salad for lunch… I kind of forgot about the weight loss thing (note that I’m still very conscious about it, but not as much as I was before because I believe I’m a lot more active than before) :P

Takeru Salad – $7.60ish with grilled chicken and egg; Takoyaki $6something and in the distance, some tonkotsu ramen $11ish.

I ordered a Takeru Salad and takoyaki to share. You might be like “WTH WHERE IS YOUR CHICKEN” – I actually ate maybe one or two pieces before I remembered to take this photo lol. But yeah, there was significantly less chicken this time than other times – but then I had the takoyaki to compensate for it. It was a really nice salad, and I actually don’t like salads at all. No green tea latte! It’s super fattening since there’s a ball of green tea icecream in it. Need to keep an eye on my weight!

More browsing, chatting and all. Then we headed to Market City and had a drink:

Regular sized Matcha Tea Latte $4.50 with Grass Jelly topping $0.50 extra. I know I sound like a hypocrite – this is a green tea latte – but hey, IT DOESN’T CONTAIN ICECREAM OKAY. And grainy photo is grainy – apologies for my lack of ability to control camera settings in dimly lit environments.

This drink wasn’t bad – usually I get the Matcha red bean milk tea, but I didn’t feel like having red bean. I forgot to say no ice (like every other time) – it probably would have been nicer without the ice, but it wasn’t bad. I think at this rate I should get a membership card – I think I have one of these a week.

The last stop for the day was Morning Glory – I’ve been keeping a close eye on these because the girls at work are obsesssed with them: nail buffers. As one of my colleagues said, “this implement is magical – it’s like it brings out the inner fire of your nail” – lololol but it’s TRUE! I grabbed these two for $5 (if you buy one it’s $2.95ea – so if they charge you $6, say no way – $5!). I also got an eyebrow tweezer because my (very old) Missha eyebrow tweezer sucks major crapballs.

Glossyblossom nail buffers (nail files also available) $2.95ea or 2 for $5; Eyebrow Tweezer, $1.95.

The tweezer isn’t bad – it’s actually pretty good lol. And to think I paid $4 for my Missha one… it makes me facepalm. I used the buffer on my mum’s nails and she was like “WOW IT’S SO SHINY”. The trick is, if you have thin nails, you don’t have to buff your nails that much – just do it very gently and half assedly – then shine your nails (step 2) like crazy. Your nails will thank you for it, because buffing thin nails is not a good idea.

I can now buff my nails at home instead of doing it at work lololol – we do it when it’s quiet though, not like we do it because we’re slacking off okay – we do a lot of stuff!

So today the total cost of my outing amounts to just under $40AUD, which is super amazing, unbelievable and mindblowing because last weekend I must have spent $90 and bought close to nothing. Can you believe it’s possible to spend less than $50 and go out to the city?! Sorry if it sounds like I’m overreacting, but I’m just plain surprised D:

Onto other matters – today was the first time I tried wearing false eyelashes out. My method of gluing the lashes is really good (looks natural, cannot tell where I glued it etc), but the glue itself – facepalm. It’s really good because it sticks really well (I mean, 9 hours and still going strong), but it’s supposed to dry clear… and it was clear, until maybe 7 hours of wear – I noticed globs of white glue balls :\ Now, it’s not too noticeable unless if you lean really closely or if you concentrate hard, but it looks REALLY WEIRD. Maybe I need to perfect my gluing technique (because I suck at gluing things, even though I’ve been making cardboard models for 5 years+). I’ll probably write about it another time – the way I did it made wearing lashes super comfortable and natural looking. But eh – globs of glue. What the heck. I’ll give it another try with a new pair of eyelashes and see if the same thing happens or not.

My next update will probably be before, if not on next Saturday (my second day off of my two days off). Until then, take care and have fun – oh wait – most of you start uni this week :P Well, have fun anyway – you can only have fun in the first few werks of uni when nothing’s due in anyway :P

Pet Peeve 08: Room Etiquette and People who fail at life

I’m so sorry for having to spam 2 posts in a day, but I just felt that I really needed people to just know about these things. Even if it’s not particularly useful or if I’m not really suggesting the best way to go about things, I just want everyone to be safe out there and avoid douchey situations.

Room Etiquette

I’m back at home now because I can’t stand being in that crappy computer room. People bumping into chairs and stuff, you doing people a favour and people don’t even say “thank you” – seriously, what kind of a world do we live in these days?

If it’s a security room, make sure you take your student I.D or whatever it is you need to get access back into the room. There’s nothing wrong with the swipe card system lately, so don’t go knocking on the door because you’re too lazy to take your I.D or even swipe it. It’s not on.

I’ve had my fair share of being the nice person to open the door for others, but frankly I just got sick of it because maybe only 1 in 5 situations do I actually get thanked for doing so, and it’s moreover a waste of my time. I don’t have time to get up, open the door, and have you act like it was your right to have the door opened for you. Why don’t YOU open the door and clean my carpet for me? You wouldn’t do it, right? Don’t expect others to do the same for you; you’re not any more special than anyone else.

People who fail at life: ie. people who ask you for money – not once, but twice or more. Ie. what I call deliberate adult delinquents.

I understand it when you open your wallet and you realise you are short of money (say 50c) for a bus trip. It’s not a problem and if someone comes up to me and asks for some money to do so, I wouldn’t mind giving you money.

I’ve had my fair share of giving away money. For those who have been following and know me, I’m unemployed. I’m a student. I’m pretty much the poorest out of the poorest. Even a part timer will have more money than I ever will at this current stage.

I like to be charitable; I do donate money, but only to causes I’m well aware of (and NOT OVER THE FRIGGIN TELEPHONE – STOP DOING THAT – I can’t verify who the hell you are over the phone so stop telemarketing charity; the concept is disgusting okay).

However, there are some people who really annoy me.

As I was leaving Uni today this pensioner looking Caucasian man stepped and blocked my path and asked me for $2 or $1 for bus money.

Usually I would consider it, but this time I automatically replied “No, sorry” without even looking at him and I coldly ignored him.

Oh but why Misa, that’s so so cruel!

Reason why I ignored his face

The story is that I remember that asshole (you’d call him that too if you were in my shoes) from several years back; I was only 18 years old at the time, walking home, with a fragile wood model in my hands. The very same guy asked me for money EVEN THOUGH I HAD MY HANDS FULL. I put down my model and I gave him $2.

I was young then – and I didn’t know whether or not he was a violent man. I was the only one on the street, albeit a busy main road. Even if I wanted help, I wouldn’t have been able to get it. I didn’t want him, out of all the things, to swat the model out of my hand and break it, if he was angered over the fact I refused to give him money. I also hesitated because I realised I was not carrying a knife that day (don’t go thinking on a tangent; we bring knives to make models and stuff) so if I really had to scare somebody off, I would have very dismal chances of doing so.

I just sincerely hoped that he was really needing some money to catch the bus, and left it at that. I really really did hope that he was just a forgetful old man who needed to get home. $2, yes, but it wouldn’t kill me. My model, my life, is worth much more than that.

However today when I saw him again I really felt  tempted to say “next time you ask someone for money you better remember their faces because you still owe me $2 from several years back” – seriously, if you had a problem back then, and it’s the same now, you need assistance, not money from poor students who are struggling to make ends meet. If you have a pension card you could ask the bus driver (showing them the card) and asking them to perhaps give you a free ride. Offer the bus driver whatever loose change you have. It’s not a big problem, a lot of bus drivers will let you on. Chances are, Mr Bus Driver would let you on without charging a cent.

So here are the fails in summary -

  • Pensioner looking man is seeking money in the form of not loose change, but specifically GOLD COINS on COX PLATE DAY. If I wanted to win some money, I’d give my dad the money; he’d make it double. I would NOT be giving it to some random guy who would verbally say “thanks” but mentally think that I’m stupid or possibly even make discriminatory comments about me despite my charitability. I’m not quite so naïve to believe that people are thankful when I give them money. I bet when you hand it over they think “lol what a dumbass.” Only exception would have been a homeless man we walked past in Melbourne who asked for any food, money, drinks or accommodation – that was the one and only time I really wanted to give someone something but I didn’t have anything on me. If I had food, I would have definitely given it to him without any regrets.
  • Said man asked me for the SECOND TIME in my 5 years of study, so it’s not the first time. This is a habitual thing, not a coincidence.
  • Asking people for loose change and getting it has less chance than actually asking a bus driver for a free ride and getting it. Seriously. If you don’t have money to get home, f*** that, you shouldn’t even wander away from where you live within walking distance. If you went out knowing you wouldn’t have enough money to get home, then that’s your own fault. Not like you were mugged or anything, it was like 1:30pm and you were wearing a backpack. DON’T TREAT PEOPLE AS IDIOTS – people are more intelligent than that.
  • A grown man asking for money in the front of a University entrance, targetting young students for money. This is made of absolute and most fail because students have the tightest money allowance ever. I know you might think what I’m saying is utter crap considering how many reviews and hauls I make, but don’t forget – I don’t need to buy textbooks for architecture. I only go to Uni like, one day per week and I walk to Uni. I have a lot of expenses taken out. I also get “free money” to spend by writing some of my reviews. On top of that, I really don’t have much of an active social life; I haven’t seen my friends for the past month and a half. So yes, my money IS TIGHT. Currently in my wallet I have about $10 cash. That’s just enough to get me a Chicken Nugget meal from McDonald’s and that’s nothing spectacular. It’s not even enough money to  buy a MyBus2 Concession ticket!

So, girls in particular who go to UNSW, Sydney (not sure if he asks boys, but boys be careful too), please beware of a Caucasian man of about 168cm height, square build, in his 50-60s with white hair. He carries a backpack and will most likely call you “darl” or “darling” and will ask you for $2 for bus money. He typically asks money probably around 1pm-2pm (this time was 1:30pm, last time was about 2pm) Do not give it to him unless you, like me several years ago, are completely alone and felt like you could possibly be in danger. This man is a habitual money asker, and he does not need the money. If he needs money, he can go get help from Centrelink or whatever – that’s his problem and NOT YOURS.

Please be safe girls and boys. If the situation is dodgy, give them the money – it’s better than risking any dangerous encounter. If you were in a busy spot like I was right at the entrance with people coming in and out, politely decline and avoid eye contact.

I was simply lucky today and thankful he asked me at the entrance. I think he started to realise that it was too hard to find people who were isolated so he switched to a busier spot.

Until next blog!

Pet Peeve 07: All for nothing – and how to (sort of) read a Chinese calendar

So you’re going to meet up with a friend. Perhaps you’re not meeting anyone – but you need to go out and do something. You wake up early, groom yourself. BB cream? Check. Filled in eyebrows? Check. Spritz of perfume? Check. You’re even wearing something nice so that you don’t look like you’ve just stumbled out of a jumping castle filled with zombies.

Suddenly your phone beeps – or perhaps you check the calendar. Your friend cancels on you/ your calendar forbids you to go.

All that effort wasted! So you change into your “at home clothes”, mumble and grumble, switch on your computer (or whatever you usually do to occupy time/ do work), annoyed at the BB cream on your face you don’t want to wash off, and at the lingering smell of your own fragrance, too overwhelming in your room at home.

Well, I’m sure everyone has felt this way before. I certainly have just experienced it today and I’m not a happy camper.

Rewind a bit – what do you mean by calendar?

Chinese people generally own one of these calendars, unless if they are using one of those larger ones that you rip off each month (imagine a wall calendar). Possibly Vietnamese and maybe Koreans use something similar – but I don’t really know.

Img src: http://dailyapple.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html

For those who haven’t seen one, it looks fairly complex, and it is complex.

The top half of the calendar usually is just the date (number of the day) – in some cases, if it’s a festival or some particular day, there’ll be an illustration. On this example, it’s the ”big snow” (I don’t really know what this is but I’m assuming it’s probably either the first day or snow or a predicted very very snowy day – you get my gist anyway).

Down the bottom however, will be all of the stuff that is interesting and actually is of concern.

How to read one of these labyrinths

To be completely honest I don’t really know how to read it all that well – but I know how to read the bits that matter.

The format can be completely different depending on who publishes the calendar, but all the sections should be more or less named with the same headings. The boxes might shift.

First off, this is the easy bit. This is the lunar date of the day. On this calendar it is the 7th December 2006, but it’s actually October the 17th on the Chinese calendar.

Why is this important, you may ask? Well, it’s important for birthdays. If you want to check up a particular date in a fortune telling book, a lot of them would go by the Lunar date – this is why the Chinese (and pretty much a whole bunch of other Asian nationalities) tend to have two birthdays. Interesting fact – Chinese and Koreans have a Chinese or a Korean age, which is one year older than the one that appears on the birth certificate, since they count the time from since they were conceived. Makes us all just another year older. Sucks :( Haha – I kid.

This is the part I call “lucky hours” – I usually have arguments with my parents over this, but one hour (Chinese) is equivalent of TWO hours (Western). By this, I mean 120 minutes. My parents are adamant that one hour (Chinese) is one hour (undefined), but this calendar simply proves I am right.

To read this, you read this from top to bottom – strangely it goes from left to right. The first hour (23-01, which is 11pm to 1am) is UNLUCKY. You know it’s unlucky because of the character (looks like a square U with a cross in it). You don’t need to be able to know Chinese to know – you just need to recognise the character. The next hour, from 1am to 3am is lucky (the character has a box at the bottom, which is generally characteristic of a happy person’s mouth ready to eat). If you then look at 5am to 7am, it’s neither lucky or unlucky (characterised by the character “middle”, which is a box with a line right down the centre – so neither this or that).

Why is this important? Traditionally, people would get married within lucky time periods. Not only does the hour have to be lucky, the day has to be lucky too (which is actually fairly infrequent – it could be a month or so sometimes before a day is considered lucky – or it could be next week). Once it has passed (bride or groom fails to show up, other things happen along the way – whatever), it means it wasn’t meant to be.

In a modern day context you could interpret this as a good time to be meeting your client or something like that.

Lol, I named this “stuff you can do”. It literally is a section listing a bunch of activities which are okay to do during the day. This part you will need to know Chinese for – but on this day it’s okay to meet a friend, have a wedding, and wear new clothes. There are more, but I don’t want to translate them.

What is “stuff”? There’s generally a list of things like “getting a haircut”, “wearing new clothes”, “having a wedding”, “paying tribute to someone at a memorial”, “having a funeral”, “planting seeds for your crops” – these are all things considered to be significant changes in a Chinese context. They all need good or lucky days so that things supposedly go smoothly. The list actually isn’t that extensive – it is limited, but I think you know what I mean.

This is the section I named “stuff you can’t do” which is really self explanatory. You should avoid these activities because this day is NOT a good day to do them. I think (I can’t really read it because it’s a bit blurry and my translation might be off) on this day you can’t do hunting, do something to your roof or building/ house, or lay (or draw in) a net. Note that Chinese culture is largely agrarian, so a lot of these have to do with farming.

So what is my point?

I woke up, I had my breakfast, and as I was about to get dressed my mum was like “you’re not going to get your hair cut today are you?” – I said “of course I am!” and got dressed and prepared.

Then I went outside to look at the calendar and under both “stuff you can do” and “stuff you can’t do” it says “you shouldn’t do anything significant today”.

=_=

It’s my mum’s fault for not saying anything! Afterwards she was like “I thought you saw the calendar” – in response I said “I’m not that stupid – you should tell me next time, because it was a waste of my time”.

I hate it when I prepare and then find out I can’t do anything!!

But then again, for those who didn’t know how to read a Chinese calendar, you know now how to do so :)

Do you believe in it? Is it REALLY true?

I think there’s no harm in believing it. I think that if I follow the calendar it means I have less chance of screwing up things – but that’s only because I’m psychologically reassured of that. Whether or not you choose to believe in it is up to you – but I’d hate to think that if I got my hair cut on a day I shouldn’t have, it could reflect badly upon myself.

I have no idea how accurate these calendars are – possibly each different published calendar might even be different – I haven’t ever compared 2 calendars before, but I assume they’re all the same. As you know, there’s a lot of other stuff on the calendar I haven’t explained and they can be contributing factors to who these predictions would apply to more.

Or your friend cancels on you via a text message.

This will do too, lol.

That’s my pet peeve – comment sharing any similar experiences – by this I mean the friend cancelling via a text message – I hardly expect many of you to allow a calendar dictate what you should do lol.

Until next blog!

Freaky Fridays – rampage.

Hai :)

Friday design

It went alright. Wasn’t bad, but I need to do lots. Will dedicate some time over the holidays to work on it. Never fear – at least it went better than expected.

I actually had a pretty good day, despite all the stress – the thing that pissed me off the most was not getting anything in the mail. It’s just such a waste of time :(

I don’t actually have much to write about today because there isn’t a whole lot to write about. In summary my week was blog blog blog – work work – post – work – post – work – post – work some more – post some more – so I’ll just do that and I’ll post up an entry I drafted from a few days again to entertain y’all. I’ll be on holidays for about 2 weeks so hopefully I’ll have some exciting things to write about – for the meantime, enjoy my drafted posts and hope you enjoy the lovely weekend ahead!

Searches of the day

Beauty review (I think was today’s post?) coming up soon. I just wanted to answer a few of these open ended searches that ended up on my blog.

does shiseido mean purple in japanese

Uhhh no, it doesn’t. The “do” in Shiseido means a place of wellbeing. Shiseido started out as a pharmaceutical company, believe it or not. “Shi” means  to sustain or to invest; “sei” means life. Therefore together, “Shiseido” means “the place to sustain life”. In a way that makes sense considering their pharmaceutical background. Some people might argue this isn’t the most accurate translation of the name, but certainly, it does not mean “purple”. Purple in Japanese is “murasaki”.

why is gmarket so cheap

Actually, it’s just only cheaper in comparison to other places. Their shipping is actually not too bad for EMS (it’s discounted), but I keep saying again and again, the thing that sucks is that they charge you the estimated weight, which is usually grossly overestimated. It largely has to do with the fact that most of the sellers are sellers who own small stores, I think, and there’s plenty of competition around, which means generally low prices all round. Doesn’t mean that everything is cheap though – I find a lot of the prices are similar to what we pay for clothes and stuff – but all their stuff is decent quality and is different in terms of style and fashion. Since it appeals, of course you’d think it’s cheaper :)

why is skinfood cheaper on ebay?

Again, it’s because the seller doesn’t have to pay rent. Online store yo. There’s so much competition online offering low prices due to lack of paying rent for a physical store, prices are bound to be low.

On a side note – why the heck is everyone searching this up? I thought it was common sense to note that with online shops (1) Lack of rent for store (2) Less people need to be hired –> therefore cheaper prices. I thought that’s why people bought online – you lack direct customer service, but you get cheaper prices. It’s certainly NOT for people to buy stuff without leaving their home because you’re too lazy to – it can’t be that.

can you reuse palty hair dye

I’m pretty sure you can’t reuse any hair dye if it’s been opened and left for a while. Chemicals will explode, yo.

gmarket how to get free gift

There’s no way to guaranteeing you’ll get a free gift. It depends on the seller’s generosity. If the listing has a “gift” button on it, be sure to read the top section or make sense of it. Some sellers offer you freebies no matter what – most sellers will offer freebies depending on how much money you spend with them. Some sellers do not include freebies at all. :)

how to use likas

I’m pretty sure like any other soap you use o_o

is blemish balm considered a cosmetics?

Yes and no – it’s technically a tinted moisturiser and moisturisers aren’t really “cosmetics”. The tinted part, however, is. If you ask me, I personally think that bb cream is definitely a cosmetic product since it should be treated like makeup. It should be applied sparingly like makeup, and it should also be removed as if it were makeup.

my dentist is rude

I honestly don’t know why people would search this up – if you don’t like your dentist, switch to a new one!

Post coming up later today :)

HIRING: Concentration required

Sniffles

I’m not really sure if this is my sickness coming back or if it’s just the bad weather. I suspect it’s the bad weather and that it’s my sinus acting up, rather than coming down with the cold and all the funsauce-not- associated with it. Yesterday was fairly unproductive but I got a few things started. Nowhere enough considering I want to print this thing off TOMORROW NIGHT. Nothing on the sheet so far. I guess I’m a bit luckier than others because I’m capable of doing stuff on Photoshop with relatively little difficulty. I want to get this done! I still have a large model to make (I’ve made one building!) but the thing is, I’ve already made 2 smaller models already. That means I’ll be coming in with at least 3 models. I might be a bit hardcore and make 5, but maybe for next submission (means I need to spend more/ buy balsa – damn).

I’m just not really feeling the stress for some reason. I really cared about design last week but then when I realised that a lot of my problems were solve-able, I kind of jumped off the stressmeter. I was more stressed yesterday: felt sick. did little work, and everything crap that could possibly happen came tumbling down. So much that I only did 30 minutes of hula hooping too. I kind of just got tired and decided to call it quits (also I was asked to change a lightbulb at the 30 min mark, so when I got back I completely lost my momentum).

RE: “Fitness”

Oh feel free to skip reading this section. This is just me writing to myself to remind myself why I’m torturing myself. >_> If you’re looking to lose weight though, you could probably read on and question yourself the “necessity” of losing weight.

You’d think that it’s a bit ironic that I’m losing weight and generally you see on TV like on the Biggest Loser they’d say something like “oh after losing the 70kg I never got sick once the year I left the show! Back then I’d get sick all the time!”

This is why I was so reluctant to lose weight to begin with. Back then in high school I would literally fall sick maybe 5 times a year and I was particularly susceptible to the cold and flu virus. When I started to actually gain weight when I started uni, I felt like my immune system was better. I’d fall sick maybe only 2-3 times max, and in the previous year, just once. The sickness is slowly coming back to me. Only this time I’ve got my fingers crossed and I’ll take better care of myself and actually get fit and have a better immune system.

I guess one question that some of you might be wondering in your heads is, “if you weren’t even remotely overweight to begin with, why put yourself through all this?” – in fact it’s something I ask myself occasionally. Yeah, I was never overweight, and people didn’t really consider me being chubby either (though the photos I saw of myself I thought it looked pretty questionable). In fact in the top banner I’m the one with the black one shoulder dress with fluoro colour blocks.

I think this all has to do with a self esteem thing. I think I will look better and feel nicer if the weight is lost. Another thing that I encountered in the past few years (which I thought was rude) was people (namely male) making bad assumptions. I was told by someone who had never seen or met me in person that I had gained weight just because of one single photo. I didn’t know how to respond, and I never bothered to because I figured I shouldn’t let someone who has never even seen me to even judge me. I learned to ignore comments like that (though I only got one other one which really annoyed me, comparing me to a photo I took about 6 years prior – isn’t that somewhat remotely ludicrous?).

Now I’m just going to put my foot down and make a positive change in my life. If I see those jerks who made those comments to me (hopefully never in my life) I can tell them to shove it.

For any guys who are reading this and know a guy or have made comments like that to a girl concerning their appearance in terms of body image, I just wanted to let you all know that your comments are highly insensitive. You might think it’s a joke or a suggestion, but to a girl that will stay at the back of her mind forever. Especially in my case, my BMI was only ever as high as 21.5 – yet I got senseless comments like that. I don’t deny that some girls ultimately deserve harsh comments because it will do them good, but in my case, it really was unnecessary and has put me in a state of paranoia. If I don’t exercise for a day I panic; I’ve drastically cut down the amount of calories I take in each day – I’m still eating what I want, but I make a conscious effort to make sure I burn it all off and feel like my stomach is empty before I go to sleep.

I’m so paranoid about my appearance now that it even pops up in my dreams. I was just having a casual conversation about hair colours and last night I had this epic dream where I was colouring my hair, but didn’t have enough time to leave it to set, so when I washed it out the colour still wasn’t right.

To girls who have slight waists at 26″ or less and with BMIs around 21.5, you honestly don’t need to lose any weight. You need to tone, but not lose. Ignore any insensitive comments, and as hard as it is to ignore them and pretend people never said them to you, I managed to do so for at least a year. You can do it too, but make sure the changes you’re making to your lifestyle are positive, not extreme.

It perhaps would have been a better idea to take my own weight loss slower (3.5kg in 2 months is a lot, as slow as it is) so it wouldn’t have impacted that much on my life. But I’m the type of person to want to see results. If I don’t see results there’s little incentive for me to want to work. Even if they’re bad results, they’ll motivate me.

I have a lot of work to do even though my BMI is in a good range. I just want to let everyone know that you need to have a strong and good reason for dieting and know where to draw the line. Don’t do it in an unhealthy way. Exercise, eat – work it off. Drop your calories so you eat until you’re satisfied, but don’t ever starve yourself or leave yourself hungry. Treat yourself to something you love eating once a week. Take photos of yourself and reevaluate where you stand – sometimes looking at a photo is different to looking at yourself in the mirror.

Sometimes it’s good to just sit down, and think about your motives for losing weight. If you can justify it apart from “I’m fat” – then continue. Please look at your measurements, BMI and think about yourself in terms of a healthy perspective. Compare it to an idol if you must, but take into account their height, body frame and the fact that their profession involves spending every single day working hard to look good. Have a target weight loss. Consult it with a friend or someone (even on soompi if you must) and other people will give you a more realistic evaluation of what you’re trying to do. Simply put, stay focused but don’t get carried away. You sometimes just forget where you’re at. You just have to slow down sometimes in life – this applies for everything.

That’s all for today :)

Let’s mix up the routine!

Gym/ Cardio workouts start from June (late June), and I’m excited at the prospect of going to a dance class! Yes, M???

Next semester’s worload will considerably drop because I have 6 less units to complete (did them in the holidays 2 years ago), which leaves me a LOT of time for other stuff. I’m really excited and can’t wait for this semester to be over so that my life can be more normal next semester. You don’t know how happy I am at the thought – we’re talking 4.5 years so far of gruelling deadlines and workloads.

The best part about the dance classes is that they’re affordable and I bet they’ll be super fun. It’s one of those things you consistently have to turn up for (learning a dance routine for instance) so you can’t skip a single week. That makes me happy 8D Better than going to a gym because you have the option of not turning up. You waste your money though lol.

Let’s do it!

I’ve been meaning to do it for a while, but never did because I didn’t want to go alone to a beginner’s class *facepalms*. My friend from uni occasionally does dance lessons, but she goes to a different one to the one I’ve been considering. So yes, the more the merrier? I really want to nail this this winter holidays.

Gumtree

I browse on Gumtree as another site that I must go onto each day nowadays. If I find something good I will tweet about it, just in case if there was anything that you possibly were looking for. I only tweet things that I think are worthy of buying in terms of price. For instance, I saw a Holga 120 for $75, which is sort of alright, but I didn’t tweet it because it’s 2nd hand and you can get a brand new one for cheaper online. Just things like that.

I really need to sell my oversized pants. Holidays Dx Guh.

Harikin!

Thanks to Ramille who dropped off 3 rolls of film to me the other day :D

Still feeling a bit jipped because they forced me to take their moolah for my film >:\ I’m SO GONNA SNEAK THAT BACK INTO C’S SPEEDY!

Unfortunately the weather has been sucky so I haven’t managed to get any great shots. If they were any shots they’d be rays of light poking through the clouds or maybe a really bad looking sunset lololol. Anyway, I’ve taken 3 shots so far – 2 of sky and one indoor shot (just to see the lighting conditions). I’ve tried to double expose the photos, but I don’t think it worked because it didn’t click lolol. I think it will take a while for me to know how to.

Otherwise the manual camera thing is all smooth sailing. I’ve never owned a manual film camera before, so it was interesting. The instructions were fairly easy to follow. I’m more amazed that when I turn the film thingy the turning thing knows when to stop! I sound like such a n00b.

Only thing – when I get the film developed I think I’ll just get them printed as well, photographic prints. I don’t trust their scans because they will scan at a low resolution. I’d probably get better quality scans if I scan it myself. I’ll ask them and see how they scan their photos I suppose. Take it as it comes >:3

I’ll blog about it when I get my first roll done. It’ll be full of pics. YEY 8D

Alright, concentration is dropping. It’s hooping time. Then it’ll be lunch and hardcore concentration on design presentation. I can do this! See you all for my next procrastination post :) Oh – PS: will definitely be doing nails of the week again this weekend. I think.

Mazeltov of the week

Sorry these posts get shorter and shorter, worse and worse by the week. I survived on just 6 hours sleep in 48 hours on Friday and Saturday. I probably looked like crap on Saturday (didn’t help with zero makeup), but I think I am looking a bit sharper tonight since I had 8 hours’ sleep.

Friday

Design. I don’t want to talk about it and I don’t want to think about it. I think I will keep my thoughts to myself.

Gmarket #4 Arrived

I’ll write about it in a separate post. DAMN IT. I took a photo of the stuff I bought and then BAM. GONE. Because I no longer have my camera.

I also hope that they delete all my photos from the memory card… I don’t tend to take photos of my room or anything, but I am worried because I do take photos of the things I buy. DAMN IT. Mostly petty things though. Most of the photos were blog photos or photoshoot ones. I rarely took photos of myself so it’s alright I guess.

—–

However, the highlight of Friday had nothing to do with design, it had to do with this party:

OMAGAH. A CLUB THAT PLAYS KPOP.

We just had to go! It was R’s birthday and we just all had to go and use that as a reason to go celebrate. And it was just to go clubbing!

I’ve never clubbed in my whole life, so it was a new experience for me. I had no idea the guy at the door was asking me for my hand to stamp it, so I must have either looked really dumb or really tipsy. Not sure which one is better, but at least it’s all good. Plus we mostly got free entry before 11pm, so that helped.

—–

We went to LIVE first to have some noraebang (that is, karaoke lololol – I made it sound like a drug or something).  The counter girl kindly gave us more time since we were there for just an hour, but we needed to head out and go clubbing. I think I’m getting better at singing How Gee! YUS.

—–

We walked perhaps 15 minutes to the clubbing place and when we got there, there was a line outside. Fairly short line, perhaps with 20 people in line, and we got in after maybe 7 minutes or so.

The interior of Slide is really nice. The only problem was that being the way it was, it’s a fairly narrow and small space. When we got there the place was empty, and there was nobody on stage. Slowly though, people started getting up to dance and it was really enjoyable – until we saw girls being felt up and all. Hmm.

For some reason I was given a midori/lemonade, had some yummy creamy shotglass thing I never caught the name of, and also a coke/bourbon from D. I also had soju and I think lift just earlier on. I didn’t have dinner (dinner was 5 KFC chicken bits) and I had so little sleep (3 hours). The good thing was that because it’s clubbing and makeup is a given, I don’t think I was that red, and dancing it off helped. I’m fairly sure I was tipsy because my head was spinning a bit and I was losing balance quite a bit even when I tried to step to the side or lift a leg up. I remember not even seeing where I was going properly when I headed up the stairs to grab my jacket from the cloak room.

I think we all had the most fun when the Korean music started playing, and we all did the dances to mostly 2NE1 songs, 2PM’s Again and again. They didn’t play Bo peep though :( And a whole bunch of awesome songs. Sad.

Our circle was crashed early on in the night when two guys danced through and were trying to hit on C and J. Luckily the guys were outside smoking or those two guys would have been seriously messsed up >_<

M and I decided to go to the toilet early in the night, which was surprisingly clean. We got very confused because we could see into the toilet and all the toilet stalls, so there was something odd. The Cloak room girl told us that the toilets were unisex, but we decided to walk into the one with a pretty frosted glass door – and guess what, it was a urinal! We walked straight back out going OMG! but we were laughing in hysterics because we were soooo lucky that there wasn’t anyone inside. I’d feel sorry for any guy at a urinal to be walked in on by 2 girls lol. Lucky.

While I was dancing there was a moment when I started realising some random guy in black was dancing behind me the entire time. Usually I tend to glance over my shoulder to see how much space I have and seeing it was black, I thought it was probably B, but I thought something was amiss because there was a height difference. Turns out it was some random dude who kept following me even though I was shifting positions around our circle. I even cut through it to dance on the other side and I found him still behind me. I’m glad that I wasn’t imagining things because the others also noticed it, but I think after that I think I went outside with M to get some air, I lost him >:3

Also, while I was dancing I could have sworn I had my ass slapped, but I don’t know if it was someone who just passed by and did it accidentally or if it was intentional. When I turned around I saw a huge gap behind me and that random dude in black didn’t have much of a facial expression. Fingers crossed it wasn’t!

There was also this really scary moment where there was this guy who kept watching our circle (or whatever he was looking at)…

The night started to become crap as soon as there were more people inside and it got stuffy, hot and just gross. They started letting in people wearing tshirts and jeans (so skater or nerd looking people) and the night just grew very unenjoyable. There were people dressed horribly in the club. My friend A told me that the general dress code for clubbing was a dress or skirt (no pants or shorts but leggings should be okay) and heels. A lot of people were wearing things they’d just wear at home before they go to sleep. Not sure how that happened.

The MC went on stage and then there was this random dance thing going on… the girl were wearing far too much makeup. And then after that, they replayed the same songs in the same order as the beginning of the night, and that was made of yawnsauce.

We left, and went back to the apartments where we watched some Family Outing and then went to sleep. It was a super enjoyable night and clubbing honestly was not a bad experience. We went in a really fun group and honestly speaking, the people in the club were fairly neatly dressed and weren’t too bad. Everyone seemed to just be enjoying themselves and even though there were random moments in the night, it made things interesting. I wouldn’t mind doing it again, it was quite fun. Of course, I wouldn’t want to do it when it’s getting way too crowded though. Feels too gross when you know everyone is sticky and stuff.

Saturday

I had a brief moment on Saturday when I had to quickly head back home because apparently my place got broken into and I had to go check what was missing. Most of the stuff stolen was my stuff, which is bad luck, but I’m thankful my parents were not hurt. I don’t want to mention much because of obvious reasons.

I took a taxi home and when I got back, I found that my laptop and camera had been stolen. I don’t think I paid for the camera, but I saved up to buy that laptop… so it was pretty sad. Admittedly, I never really liked my laptop all that much. I like the speakers and the look of it, but that was about it. I had it for two years and wish that I used it more.

I can’t even take photos of stuff now to post up on my blog. So if there are any photos, they will either be instax or camera photos. I’m sorry for the big masses of text, but I won’t be able to do it until I get a new camera. I’m feeling sad because even though the money I used to buy the laptop wasn’t really “mine” (since I don’t work), it was from my allowance, and I work and study fairly hard for it (if you think of the idea of me being paid to study, since being a student is technically an occupation). I just got some money from a startup scholarship, and was planning to use it to go to Broken Hill during the winter break to finish off my electives. Now, I have to use that money instead to perhaps buy myself a new laptop or a camera. I don’t know how things are going to work out. So in other words, thanks to whoever did it, you screwed up my education.

All I can say is shame on whoever did it, because you broke into an apartment where a poor girl student who has a limited allowance actually saves up to buy her own stuff, and works overtime almost every night before submissions and took the stuff she needed to do her work. I don’t even want to talk about anything else. I’m just too disgusted to believe or comprehend what had even happened. They also took something of great sentimental value to my mum, something she worked very hard to buy. My mum hadn’t worked for about 15 years and when she did, it was a tough waitressing job where she had to do all the stupid crap that wasn’t in the range of work she needed to do. She has a back problem and various other health issues, so that was her first real job in 15 years. She saved up months to buy it, and then now it’s stolen. It’s the equivalent to stealing from the elderly.

I had to call the police and file a report. And after that I headed back out to the city, where I could just temporarily forget about the dark atmosphere back at home.

C helped me dye my hair with the Palty dye! Thanks!! <3

Again I would have done a review if my camera hadn’t been stolen. But my hair is brown! No weird regrowth now :D The dye doesn’t smell bad at all and it doesn’t stick to the scalp. The only bad thing was that it’s quite strong, so it made my scalp a bit itchy in some places. I used a hairdryer periodically to help the chemical process.

Overall, the dye was quite good. Apart from a Korean dye I bought, this was the next most effective DIY dye I’ve ever applied to my hair. The colour is fairly accurate to the picture on the pack (lightened my black hair to the brown) but it was strangely odd because the entire time I was washing it out, it was yellow that was coming out. Generally the dye is brown, but this was was yellow. Another thing to note is that 2 packs is probably better. I el cheapo’d out and just got one, which was sort of enough to cover everything, but my hair is quite thick and long. Next time I’ll use two.

But YAY – thanks so much C!

We headed out to Wagaya for J‘s birthday dinner. J kindly sympathised with my loss, which really touched me ;-; Happy Birthday!
Once again I survived a sushi roulette (no wasabi!) and got incredibly red from all the sochu. I think I had 3 shots or something. But alas, no bbcream or powder on my face. I went au naturale yesterday.

Then we headed back, talked about random stuff, and then went to sleep.

Sunday

Had 8 hours sleep, checked out and then we just all went home because the weather is pretty crappy and it’s a public holday.

And now I’m here.

I really want to do my exercise and have some sleep. I don’t think I had a proper meal in the past 2 days (Wagaya was the closest “meal” but even so I didn’t really eat much). I also want to start on my uni work and get myself back on track.

I’ll be scanning in the few instaxes I took the past two days I suppose, but yeah, sorry guys, no photos until I get back on track.

And to C – find the surprise! If you still can’t find the surprise, I can give you a hint, it’s in your LV bag somewhere! I just hope it didn’t fall out or get lost. And to Ramille, what did you guys do to my bag?! I checked everything but found nothing.

I had extreme 2 scales for this week – I had loads of massive awesomesauce fun, and then on the other end of the spectrum it was like grieving over various crapsauce events.

I am going to recover today and hopefully be 100% charged by tonight. Thanks to the Lovigans for an enjoyable 2 nights/ days – I had a lot of fun!

Recount of the week and possibly stuff I learned, if applicable

I know y’all be sick of me repeating the same shiz over and over, but I have pics to make the post look pretty XD

And if you haven’t noticed, I’ve changed my blog layout. WOOP! Looks a lot neater, but a lot smaller too. Because I’m blogging on a Monday, I get to do a Mazeltov and go from Monday to Sunday :P

Monday

I cut my nails because well, the design was coming off and my nails seemed to be too long anyway. Cuticles do not look very healthy.

On the flip side though, orange pearl Konad polish is a really lovely colour. I’ve tricked you all here because I’ve edited the photo, but it is an orange. The lovely thing about it is that you can clearly see the silver glitter and it’s such a light springy summer kind of nail colour. Too bad it’s autumn now and it feels more like winter, but still, I really like the colour. Surprise surprise though, I didn’t like this colour at all when I got it in the mail, but I’m starting to think I’ll definitely be using this a lot more.

As you can see I’m starting to use my cher <3 diary – I love doing little doodles and sometimes I take notes in it. I’ve also marked above the 28th my first day of hula hooping XD And FYI – yes I have been hula hooping every day without fail.

Tuesday

Had gloomy weather and I basically did nothing. I know this isn’t interesting at all, but I thought I’d just share that with you ;)

Wednesday

While the weather was better, I accidentally stumbled across something I did not want to see. You could almost call it a breakdown. Needless to say, Wednesday was not a good day for me. But on the flip side, the Lovigans made plans to go to noraebang (Korean karaoke) for Thursday – YAY!

Thursday

Went to class and then we went to noraebang! The city’s nightlife is really different. I rarely hang around the city at night – but it was packed with people and people lining up to get into bars or clubs, and yeah. I already blogged about noraebang, but you should all visit C’s blog right here because she talks about the night in much better detail – she took more instaxes, and they actually show something lol – unlike my fail instaxes :( I couldn’t even put a picture to my blog T_T Also check out L’s awesome tumblr for photos of the night (mostly uploaded on the 2nd April 2010).

I’m going to steal this Instax of me and post it up here (so I get a picture here too hehe)

Credits: www.camillesioco.tumblr.com

I know it’s a cheeky photo becauses I was wearing something that covered my arms (plus I’m in all black which made me look more like a ninja more than anything else) but I think I am possibly losing some weight. 8) I don’t weigh myself, by the way. But seriously, photos from the week before were like D:!!! in comparison just to the ones before that. Sad sauce, but I’m going to bump up that cardio and burn some fat >:\ And I got the Belle Instax XD Hopefully I don’t end up with a Beast though >_> LOL GEDDIT… BEAST… OTL

But I see my Domo necklace >:3

But seriously, we all really did have mad awesome fun – best 2 hours of karaoke that went by so quickly, I’m not kidding. Luckily we didn’t go clubbing because there was still a line when we drove past on the way home… this was past midnight, too… but next time!

Friday

I woke up sick :\ As a result I couldn’t really do much work. I was just feeling crappy.

What was even crappier was this that I mentioned briefly in my Friday blog:

Yep, my polaroid bag has one of the straps slightly coming out. I carry my handbag like bags too much like a sack way too often, which is why it resulted to this. I’ll fix it up later at some time. Untouched photo. Cuz it has sexy light.

Saturday

I madly finished my computing assignment and finished around an epic time of perhaps 1 or 2am depending on how you want to calculate daylight savings. It was frustrating, but at the same time it was really satisfying, because the component I chose to model was actually a lot harder than I had expected it to be. I thought it was supposed to be easy but uh – no, it wasn’t. I’m feeling quite 1337 that I even managed to get it done.

Sunday

I handed in my assignment and then Ramille came over because they wanted to park their car over near my place for a day or two. Unexpectedly though (well to me), I found myself in the city (guys, had I known I would have worn a jacket instead of a vest XD) and we were at Capitol doing our usual thing. Only I couldn’t get this darn teddy bear out of the machine :( Sadsauce.

We had some icecream at Passionflower though!

By the way, for those who have been thinking “hey cool perspex (well actually they’re polycarbonate) chairs!” at Passionflower, can I please tell you that you are sitting on a chair worth approximately $450AUD? By the way, I looked it up, it’s actually $530AUD – I knew it was somewhere near the $500 mark, but I only knew it was +/- $100. To be safe I just went under or else you’d all be like PSH SO IT WASN’T WORTH ALL THAT MUCH. I found out it was $530 from this article which is a bit of text, but if you search for the Louis Ghost chair, you’ll find the price.

Yes, this chair is worth several hundred dollars because this is a designer chair.

BET Y’ALL DIDDUN KNOW THAT?!

I actually didn’t realise until yesterday because I never paid attention to their chairs. It was only yesterday that I realised my researching of chairs for my desk made me realise that this was the Kartell Louis Ghost chair by Philippe Starck.

If you’re interested, you can buy these chairs from SPACE FURNITURE or Kartell. They have a Kartell store in Bondi Junction Westfield. I remember the first time I walked in I was freaked out at $600 plastic chairs, but these are well worth it. They’re durable, light, look good, relatively comfortable (but not good as a desk chair as C agreed) and the mould is expensive to make, therefore the hike in price. I looked carefully at the chairs and they’ve been using them for quite a few years – no scratches. Pretty good.

This is what you’re paying to sit on when you eat your icecream lol. $15 dollar icecream!

Left: Heartbreaker, Right: Lasting Love

So C got a Heartbreaker while I got a Lasting Love. The irony. What was even worse was that I have a dollop of that strawberry icecream tucked into the back and my icecream eventually turned into a Heartbreaker :( Sucks. But the mango sorbet was really nice! It was like eating a Weiss bar – and strawberries – nomnomnom.

For those who are wondering why the quality of photo for the Louis Ghost and Icecream photos is different, it’s because I bought a DSLR. No, I’m just kidding, I took them with my phone camera, actually. I’m amazed at the clarity D: It could possibly end up taking better photos than my Sony at this rate >_<

We then went to a few other places,  but mostly Lumiere.

I finally got my Palty hair dye. I bought Honey Brown. Sorry for the blurry photo. This is where the irony kicks in – I took it with my Sony Cybershot, yet my Samsung phone photos are better >:\

$19AUD @ AKA Cosmetics. They had a LOT of stock like just the week or two before and now they’re almost all gone! I chose this colour because I like my browns to be ashy and not orange. I do not want flaming orange hair.

R was made of awesomesauce and won me a Doraemon – after the past week of being teased by a certain somebody about owning a yojigen pouch because I lug large bags around, I guess I’m stuck with the little “feline robot”. It’s really cute though XD And once again, R also won me the Domo pouch, which is actually a key holder! Thank you!

The inside of the pouch is so cute! There are little Domos in different poses hahahaha.

I didn’t realise until after we left the place, but inside the Domo pouch there was a golden egg inside. There wasn’t anything inside the egg or anything, and now I suspect that this is a promotion thing going on at Prize Paradise. Hopefully I’m heading out to the city sometime soon and I’ll give this back to the counter. I hope it means a prize 8D But if not, they can reuse it for next year lol – I swear it wasn’t intentional that I took it with me, I just didn’t know it was inside to begin with o_o

So because Ramille were parking near mine, I am babysitting their Domo-kun that sits in the backseat usually.

Craptastic blur. WHY?!

Their Domo-kun is so huge in comparison to my little Domo <3 But the cousins are hanging out together temporarily ^^

I decided to watch UP and it was so lovely! The graphics were so well done and I cried during the movie. The idea was just so beautiful ;__; It was so sad! But I really loved it.

By the way, R, I’ll have to side with C on this one – the kid from UP is definitely Asian because he has Asian eyes. Also his “mum” clapped like a Japanese lady :P They also got a Japanese kid to do his voice, so Russell is Japanese-American XD

http://images.hitfix.com/photos/59456/RussellUpPoster_gallery_primary.jpg

He has almond eyes! Only Asians have them!

Today, ie. Monday

Anyway, I’ll be watching movies for today :D I also checked your car, Ramille, and it’s clean and fine. :)

Today I’ll be starting my 30minute hula hoop sessions. I can actually hula hoop non stop for 20minutes, so I’m gonna bump that up to 30minutes now. And I’m going to spin faster, too. Hehehe. And yes, the hoop does work!

Hope y’all enjoyed this long ass post. Is this a better structure than my usual blogging? If so I’ll continue to blog like this, because this post took me a lot longer than usual to write.

Until next post!

PS: I am 100% sure that I left something out that I was supposed to write about. But I forgot. Hmm. It’ll come to me – later. OH YES – I have a few things to sell ._. Self reminder to post here and on Gumtree.

Nails and lots of random stuff

Hello my furry little friends – HAHAHA NO I KID – (that was fairly out of character from me)…

I realised that my last blog was almost a week ago. So I guess this files under “I’m alive not dead”.

Sorry to those who get my blog entries via email subscription – I tend to rarely edit my posts until I hit the Publish button, so if there are any mistakes, you’ll just have to come to my blog and see the mistakes edited :x I generally fix up typos, grammatical errors and anything else weird within 2 minutes of posting >_> But just yeah. I don’t like proofreading so sorry! ;_;

What happened after the submission and the little shoot at USYD? Well, let me just briefly categorise and break down this post in order during the week so that I don’t get myself confused. I’ve been lacking sleep (or rather, lacking energy – or both, I’ve been sleeping at like 1am-3am these days) so there’s something wrong. But anyway, let’s start! I still have design to do, though I have a few hours until class. I love actually doing my work.

Sunday

I slept in and I didn’t do anything productive. In fact it was so unproductive I can’t remember what happened.

Monday

Went to uni, printed off whatever else I needed to print off, and started reading like mad that night. C posted off some notes (haha ‘some’ is such an inaccurate word to use to describe the notes) for me and it was like all smiles around :D

Tuesday

Went to uni, because I had to start working on design. What happened was our tutor thought that graduation project ran for one semester only, and crammed the schedule so that there was something due every week. When I read through the brief I thought it was a bit hectic, but what do you expect, it’s graduation – then he realised after L  pointed out that by the end of this semester we would have finished everything including the design, so what was going to happen next semester? So yeah, he’s going to reschedule the work so it runs over a year – but he didn’t change the submission date for this week. So in pairs, we had a week (or well, in this case, slightly less) to read over 200 (if you include the council meetings, then maybe 450) pages of council documents and make it into a powerpoint. And a report.

We’ve almost finished the powerpoint and we have a bit of the report to go. And when I type that, I mean that’s where we stand now as I am typing this post >_< But we’ll get through it. I have a few hours to kill, and we have tonight and tomorrow morning. It’ll be ok. And it shouldn’t be assessed, either. Fingers crossed – if it is, I hope he gives us some time to patch it up, considering we’ve only gotten a week.

I got C’s parcel in the mail :D Yay for Express Post - though it must have cost a bit ._. 3kg satchel… omona :\

This is why I have not been blogging. I am not exaggerating when I say I literally have 600 pages to read.

HOLY?! When I got the parcel my mum was like going to me (when we were driving home from uni), “was that all? 600 pages? Seemed like it wasn’t 600 pages.” I was like “no way, it must have been” – I get home and it was HUGE. My mum was like “ORLY?” =_= I still have yet to bind this thing. I PROMISE, NEXT MONDAY. And lookie – nail tips! Also from C :D Thanks times a gazillion! I’ll play around with them on Friday night after design – ho ho ho ho. Not sure what to do with them, though. I don’t wear false nails.

I was tired and I was supposed to start another essay due for Thursday (that is, today), but I did my nails instead.

Nails of the week!

Do NOT buy the Konad pink special polish. I’ve said this before, but I’ve just gotten even more proof that it’s crapsauce.

(1) The stamp cannot pick up the entire stamp because the formula for this is WEAK. The colour does not show up as vibrant as the others.
(2) The stamp is pink too.  You can’t tell if the stamp is imperfect until you stamp it onto your nail. It was extremely frustrating finding that half a strawberry was missing.

So, I gave up the strawberries, and I used the template I got last time – m71 (lace) and polka dots from m79. I said that this was an absolute fail and that I wanted to get rid of this set ASAP but it’s not so bad any more. I think everything looks better in daylight – including photos of things. Sorry for the slight blur – I was lazy and didn’t want to use super macro. However, I now Photoshop my photos beyond a clone stamp tool to clean up my messy polish hehehe. And I was just playing around with the sig to trick you all.

I know, the photos are washed out, but that’s the feeling I was trying to aim for. I used Konad’s Light Beige polish as the base colour, the plates as I mentioned before, pink and purple special polish (only the polka dots were pink, everything else was purple) – for the polka dots I used pink Konad rhinestones (really pretty and they are staying on quite well – I love how they were freebies too. YUS), and also these pastel purple hearts that C gave me in this Korean Cute Art Nail kit.

The biggest fail about this set was that for some reason I thought that the nail kit had purple hearts that were 3D, but they didn’t lololol. I don’t know why I thought they had it >_> But anyway.

Love it? Hate it? Let me know.

Everyone’s getting engaged these days – I found out that a fellow student L recently got engaged – CONGRATS! I feel so behind. She’s only 2 years older and she’s already engaged – I’m still single D:

Wednesday

Went to uni. Continuation of design. We then went to the city to take some photos for our powerpoint. On the way of course I couldn’t help but snap some random stuff.

This is the set I’m putting together. Not for design or anything. Just for myself lol. I quite liked these photos in particular. And yes, I’m no longer going to post in standard photo size if I don’t want to. I think it’s rather silly to keep it at that size, to be honest. I don’t print these anyway, so I’ll just let it be like this. I should start saving my photos larger. I don’t actually save the base file when I edit the colours lololol – oh well.

Jelly Belly!

L went to buy some at a convenience store and the guy was nice – he asked her how many friends she had waiting outside and she said 3 – so we each got a packet! These make me nostalgic. I think one of the first ever birthday presents I got was a jar of Jelly Belly <3

I then saw a few photos of me from USYD flying around tumblr - yay for the polaroid one that L took of me in the airy room! However one thing I noticed was how incredibly fat I’m starting to look :\ I don’t remember looking as fat just the week before at Cockatoo Island – was it uni?! Either way I’m quite depressed seeing the photos – they are lovely, but they are also telling me to start exercising like mad. The thing is half the time I’m in denial because in real life/ person, I don’t appear to be chunky or as chunky as I believe I am. Then photos… IN MY FACE Dx

Actually, it must have been. Just last week I was staying up late, having poor sleeping patterns and not to mention I had a bout of crazy metabolism. I need to do something :\

MY ASSIGNMENT GOT AN EXTENSION! Originally I had a computer thing due in for Monday, but since it’s been extended, I can go out on the weekend. YAY! I better lose weight and be more active :\ Imma play that basketball thingo every week from now on >:\

Thursday

So I decided to start exercising. I did some jogging this morning and to help me I charged up my very dead Nano.

Yes, I have an iPod, and it’s an old Generation 2 Nano. (You can tell I quite like green since my folder is also green on the lower left, though I didn’t buy this, this was a Christmas present I received a few years ago)

It’s ALIVE! I generally rarely use this. I used it when I would walk to uni and back home, but ever since I stopped charging it, I guess I just stopped doing it. I am planning on bringing this with me and updating it with good music so I’m motivated to walk.

I’ll also be lifting some weights maybe after lunch or something so yeah.

It might sound like I’m making excuses, but recently the new neighbours next door moved in and they are smokers. I used to walk off my meals in the living room, but ever since they moved in, I can’t hang around there any more. It gives me a headache.

I didn’t take the Nano with me this morning, but even though I was only out for 15 minutes, I covered quite some distance. My biggest flaw is that I do not jog – I end up running. Eurgh.

—–

So, that’s my week from Sunday up until now. I’ll blog again most likely Saturday morning and/ or night (I’ll blog in the morning if I end up doing any nail sets on those nail tips, at night if I am still awake by then).

For now I’ll be making a pot of green tea every day and hope that it’ll boost my metabolism.

Until next blog!
